We recently asked Cabin Crew Daniel Palssonberg to tell us about his journey of cabin crew life, from training to daily tasks, career goals, and advice for aspiring aviation professionals. Here’s what he had to say:
How long have you been working in the aviation industry?
I have been working in the aviation industry for two years now. It’s been a journey of growth and learning, filled with both personal and professional milestones. Each day brings new adventures.
What made you choose to pursue a career in the aviation industry?
Aviation has always intrigued me, and I’ve had a strong passion for the field and for aeroplanes. I’ve always loved the idea of being part of a team that helps connect people from all over the world, allowing them to experience new places and cultures.
The role of cabin crew, in particular, appealed to me because it combines safety, customer service, and a sense of adventure. I wanted a career that was both challenging and fulfilling, and aviation offered the perfect mix.
What path have you taken to embark on an aviation career?
My journey began with researching various airlines and applying to the ones that piqued my interest. I completed an intensive cabin crew training program, where I learned about safety procedures, in-flight customer service, and cultural awareness.
This hands-on training helped me understand the responsibilities and skills needed to excel in this role. After completing the program, I’ve worked on three different aircraft types, covering everything from domestic to charter flights, and I love it. It’s hard work and requires a lot of studying, but it’s so worth it!
Give us an overview of what you do on an average day in your role.
An average day begins with a briefing where we discuss the flight details, a safety topic, a medical topic, and any special instructions for that day’s journey. Once on board, we prepare the cabin, check our equipment, and make sure everything is ready for the passengers.
Throughout the flight, I assist passengers with their needs, provide meal and beverage service, and ensure all safety protocols are followed. My role also includes managing any in-flight issues calmly and professionally, from handling medical situations to addressing passenger concerns alongside my amazing crew.
What do you most love about your job?
What I love most is the interaction with people from all walks of life. Each flight brings new faces and stories, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to make someone’s journey memorable and comfortable.
I also enjoy the team aspect—working closely with colleagues who share a passion for safety and service creates a strong sense of camaraderie. Lastly, I love the travel opportunities. Seeing different parts of the world firsthand is a unique privilege that I never take for granted.
What are your goals for the future?
My goals are to continue honing my skills and eventually take on a leadership role within the cabin crew team. I’d also love to try long-haul flights in the future.
What advice would you give to aspiring cabin crew?
To aspiring cabin crew, I’d say: be adaptable and open to learning. The role requires resilience, especially during long flights or unexpected situations, and every experience is a chance to grow. Focus on developing strong communication and problem-solving skills, as these will be invaluable.
Remember the importance of empathy. Showing kindness and understanding to passengers can make all the difference in their experience—you never know what they’ve gone through before check-in or what journey they are on.
Finally, never give up! Sometimes you don’t succeed on your first application, but if you’re passionate about something, keep going. Persistence pays off!
Any other information you would like to share?
The aviation industry is fast-paced and ever-evolving, which makes it both exciting and challenging. I am proud to be part of an industry that plays such a vital role in connecting people globally, and I look forward to continuing this incredible journey.
