For International men's day, we wanted to shine a light on some of the amazing men that work for Aviation Job Search and find out a little more about them.
This year we would like to talk more about men’s mental health and all the things they do to keep on top of their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
Let’s hear from Joe Singleton, our Sales Manager here at Aviation Job Search.
Talk us through an average day in your life
I usually get up early and listen to a podcast to kick off the day. Then I login and get started with work in my home office, I’ll focus on working in the Asian and Middle Eastern markets in the morning, then the European and USA markets for the rest of the day.
Once work is completed, I like to get out of the house for a couple of hours before settling down to watch a Netflix series or film in the evening
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to be a firefighter.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges facing young boys and men today?
The fact that social media conditions our brains to always want more. Whether that’s a better job, more money, better holidays, bigger house, fancier restaurants, expensive clothes… I believe it’s becoming more common that young men aren’t satisfied with where they are in life because somebody always looks like they're doing better than you.
How do you look after your mental health
Communicating with people as much as possible, whether that’s over video calls or in person. I find human interaction is massively important, because a problem shared is a problem halved.
What advice would you give your younger self?
To remember that you only “get out, what you put in”, with everything you get up to in life. Just do your absolute best at it, and usually the results you want to see follow. Don’t half-heartedly approach things.
What changes would you like to see in the future for men and their mental health?
For it to be recognised that’s it’s just as important to live a healthy life as it is to eat your greens and drink water.
Who is your biggest male inspiration in life?
Carlo Ancelotti - he won everything there is to win, but never changed his principles along the way.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement to date is buying my first house this year.
