Following a survey which revealed that more than half of pet owners would travel more if they had access to better care for their pets, easyJet has teamed up with TrustedHousesitters. The new partnership aims to make it easier for pet owners to travel, safe in the knowledge that their pet is properly cared for.
The service will allow the airline’s customers to find a free pet and house sitter while booking their flight. It will even give them the opportunity to find accommodation as a pet and house sitter in their destination. Founder of TrustedHousesitters, Andy Peck, commented: “Pet owners struggle due to a variety of reasons, the biggest of these is peace of mind and the cost of kennels and catteries.
Vets tell us that pets are happier in their familiar home environments. But it doesn’t always work to ask busy friends and family to pop in and check on pets, or to pay hundreds on top of your holiday for live-in pet care.” This new partnership looks to solve these problems.
Travellers will be able to find verified members of the TrustedHousesitters community to look after both their homes and pets while they are away. They will be able to find a unique place to stay while on holiday with the added bonus of a pet for company. easyJet says that the accommodation on offer ranges from stylish Parisian apartments to entire Greek islands with animals from chickens to llamas.
easyJet’s Ancillary Revenue Director, Andrew Middleton, said that this new partnership “will make travel possible for even more people.”
Managing Director at TrustedHousesitters, Tim Lyons, said: “Our speciality is connecting people with authentic and amazing places to stay which include the company of an adorable pet, easyJet’s speciality is getting people there – I think we will make a great team.”
The catch is that you need to be a TrustedHousesitters member to take advantage of this offer, which is due to launch in early 2018. However, at £89 per year, this could prove to be excellent value for money for customers seeking either pet care or accommodation.
