    IATA has joined forces with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide to bring you an online Supply Chain Management Certificate. This Program combines three key cargo courses from IATA and three specialized courses from ERAU to provide you with a strong foundation in cargo supply chain management. Designed for individuals currently working in the industry, the coursework will address topics such as basic cargo procedures, loading, sourcing, procurement, packaging, distribution and customer service. Courses are offered fully online and are self-paced. Enrollment is open and courses can be started anytime.

    Program format

    • All 6 courses of this Certificate program must be completed within one year.
    • All course material and exams are self-contained within each course. Exams are completed at your own pace in the online course and do not have to be scheduled separately. Please refer to the Exam Information below for more details.
    • The exam/assessment should be accessed after you have completed the course module. Once you have started the assessment you can no longer access the course module.

    • Manage aircraft hold space control and maximization, aircraft routings, basic rating principles and state and operator variation
    • Explain the role of logistics management and major global supply chain strategies, logistics system effectiveness and the importance of improving customer service performance
    • Describe the role of information systems and internet technology in inventory management, order processing and supply chain integration
    • Relate the role of transportation and warehousing in the logistics system, issues associated with product packaging and the concepts of total costs

    Cargo Introductory Course (IATA)
    This course will help you to understand the roles of different organizations in the air cargo industry, the concept of the IATA Cargo Agency, and world geography. Gain the knowledge to control and maximize the use of space in aircraft holds. Understand aircraft routings and industry manuals, such as TACT and OAG World Airways Guides. Learn how to apply basic rating principles and state and operator variation, and how to follow IATA standards to accept cargo, complete documents and improve customer service.

    Cargo Supply Chain and Transport Modes (IATA)
    This course provides a broad understanding of supply chain management, logistics and different modes of transport. You will learn key principles and concepts in freight transport management, multimodal transport operations, the unitization and containerization of cargo, and the transportation of dangerous goods by air, land and sea.

    Transport of Pharma Products and Vaccines by Air (IATA)
    This course provides a broad understanding of the transportation of pharma products and vaccines by air. Time and temperature sensitive pharmaceutical products, such as vaccines, medicines, and other healthcare products, require specific handling, monitoring, process controls, and transportation and storage requirements. You will learn about product and transport process temperature ranges, packaging technologies, key risk factors, and critical control points in the pharma handling process.

    This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of air transportation management. We will explore the emerging trends in the industry and look at some of the managerial aspects of how to manage in this international industry, and finish off by looking at financial management processes.

    Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ERAU)
    Integrated logistics reviews the systematic management of activities associated with the delivery of goods and services to meet customer needs. Content addresses the cross-functional management of a number of activities including sourcing, procurement, packaging, in-bound transportation, warehousing, inventory management, distribution, customer service, and reverse logistics where appropriate.

    Operations Management (ERAU)
    This course is a detailed study of managing the operations in both the manufacturing and service organizations. Extensive discussion on all three levels of planning including operational, tactical and strategic are covered along with the different problems encountered by the supply chain managers and potential approaches to deal with those problems are explained. The course also includes some of the emerging technologies that can assist the supply chain managers in their decision making.
