Description

The AC-130J Academic/Simulator Contract Instructor Pilot will be responsible for delivering the training curriculum. This includes responding to 426 Squadron instructional management staff and providing student training to meet CF needs; ensuring alignment with needs of Squadron chief instructor for all matters related to standards of instruction, teaching methodologies, and handling of and reporting on CF CC130J students. As practical, interact closely with Squadron instructional staff to coordinate instructional tasks, review, and apply lessons derived from training that has been conducted, and collaborate on assessing student performance. 

  • Provide formal aircrew academic, simulator training to officer and enlisted initial/mission qualification, AC upgrade, requalification, instructor upgrade, and key staff students to special operations aircrew in emergency procedures training, systems instruction, instrument flight, close air support, air interdiction, armed reconnaissance, and tactical operations.
  • Provide academic and simulator refresher training to qualified officer and enlisted AC-130J aircrew members.
  • Assist in the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process in the design and development of courseware and ensure all AC-130J courseware is correctly applied.
  • Selected candidate will become a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) certified instructor.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • Current as a Pilot in the AC-130J within the previous two years; or within the previous 8 years if the candidate has performed 8 years of military operational flying duty at the time of hire with at least two years, or 200 hours, experience as an AC-130J in-flight instructor.
  • Selected candidate must obtain a minimum of an active SECRET clearance, will be subject to a government security investigation, and must meet eligibility requirements, including US Citizenship, for access to classified information and Communications Security (COMSEC) material.
  • 2000+ hours in the AC-130 H/U/W/J.
  • 100+ hours of Night Vision Goggle time.
  • 500+ hours of instructor time.
  • AIS graduate.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
