Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Aegis Computer Network Instructor who will be a key support develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors in support of Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia.
Job Description:
  • Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors in support of Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia.
  • Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training.
  • Serve as a Journeyman Instructor to train CG/DDG sailors in the performance of preventive and corrective maintenance for the Local Area Network (LAN), its interface and associated equipment.
  • Train others in the alignment, adjustment, configuration, removal, replacement of the lowest replaceable unit to include diagnostic testing and system validation of the Linux/Cisco LANs and all associated equipment.
  • Train others on the following equipment:  ADS and CND Consoles, X-STAB/Thin-client display monitors, Bridge Routers, Edge and Core Switches to interface other LANs, Fiber Optic Data Distribution and ETHERNET interfaces and their associated File Servers and Application Processors, IBM/Themis Blade servers and HP-UX/HP-RT. 
  • Provide dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems Capabilities and Limitations to the officer level.
  • Review and analyze U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine and integrates and conceptualizes the execution of Doctrine optimizing the application of ship's Combat Systems capabilities and limitation in the dynamic operational tactical environment.
  • Conduct dynamic assessment of the sailors’ abilities to comply with approved maintenance and operational procedures and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain technical and tactical proficiency.
  • Observe and asses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.
  • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.
  • Support Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conducts training gap analysis provides formal feedback and recommendation for Course improvement.
  • Document the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.
  • Develop, test, maintain and deliver moderately complex Aegis training programs and related materials in support of ATRC training objectives.
  • Establish and review course content and objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Maintain records of training activities, participant progress and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a BA in a related discipline and at least 2 years' experience in training development and delivery, Or Associate's Degree in related field and at least 4 years related experience Or completion of a Military Master Training and at least 6 years relevant experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years' of experience with the required system as either a maintenance technician supervisor or operator supervisor with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
  • Must possess NEC 1339/V44A (ACNT BL 7.2B) qualification. 
  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
Desired Qualification: 
  • Possess a NEC 950*****A (Instructor) qualification.
  • Experience in  Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of CSCS/TACTRAGRU/ATG is a significant plus.   
Security Requirements: 
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance. Must be able to obtain an Active DoD Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements: 
  • Occasional travel- up to 5%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. (More information regarding REAL ID can be found:   )
Physical Requirements: 
  • Generally, office environment with possibility industrial/shipboard exposure expected. 
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
