POSITION OVERVIEW:  

The Aircraft A&P Avionics Mechanic reports directly to the Manager Maintenance and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical performance of all assigned maintenance duties. The primary focus is the monitoring and oversight of maintenance activities performed on company aircraft. While this position does not primarily serve in a supervisory capacity, mechanics may assume such a role when required. They may also act as Designated Inspectors based on company needs. Mechanics hold critical authority and responsibilities during maintenance and repair tasks on company aircraft and related equipment. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:  

  • Perform all assigned maintenance duties in accordance with the company General Maintenance Manual (GMM) 

  • Ensure proper completion of all forms on all work assigned and performed. 

  • Ensure proper handling of all parts, units, assemblies, and aircraft while in the repair process. 

  • Ensure the adequacy, correctness, and completion of all associated and required documentation for all maintenance work performed, or inspections conducted. 

  • Maintain the work area in a safe, clean, and operative condition and ensuring all tools are accounted for at completion of all assigned tasks. 

  • Responsible for tooling and equipment used for aircraft maintenance. 

  • Each Mechanic must immediately notify the Manager Maintenance and all other appropriate personnel of any condition that would compromise the airworthiness of company aircraft. 

  • Maintain a valid Airframe and/or Powerplant Certificate. 

  • Understand the current instructions of the manufacturer. 

  • Suggest Manual revisions as necessary by completing a MOC per AGM 8.12 

  • Monitor assigned vendor/contract personnel follow company policies and procedures which may apply during a company aircraft maintenance visit for overnight, daily, or other heavier maintenance services. 

  • Compliance with company and manufacturer’s procedures, applicable FARs and accepted industry practices. 

  • Monitor Aircraft Logbook for any open MEL, CDL, NEF or restrictive items. 

  • Coordinate with the MCC and SOC on the status of all maintenance. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager Maintenance or DOM. 

QUALIFICATION: 

  • Valid FAA Mechanics’ Certification with Airframe and Powerplant ratings, including Airworthiness Release Authorization. 
  • Must meet recent experience requirements as per FAA regulations: 
  • Served as a mechanic under their certification and rating for at least 6 months within the preceding 24 months. 

  • Technically supervised other mechanics. 

  • Supervised in an executive capacity the maintenance or alteration of aircraft. 

  • Participated in a combination of the above activities within the preceding 24 months.
