The County of Volusia is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor for the Mosquito Control Division. This position is located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and will be responsible for supervising and performing the maintenance and repair of rotor wing aircraft in accordance with manufacturer specifications and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. The candidate must be detail-oriented and understand that this position may require extended work hours and some work at off-site locations for repairs/return to the hangar. The position is required to coordinate support all aerial missions, including safety, flight following, associated application equipment, loading, , maintenance and coordination of fuel farm, acquisition of related items and other miscellaneous duties.

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and six (6) years’ experience as a certified aircraft maintenance technician; four (4) years’ experience with turbine engine helicopters; and one (1) year experience with Bell Helicopter model 206 or MD Helicopter model 520.
Must possess a federal aviation administration (FAA) airframe and powerplant license.
Must possess a current Inspection Authorization rating or able to obtain within 6 months of appointment and maintain thereafter.
Must meet all FAA requirements as director of maintenance for a commercial FAR Part 135 certificate.

Must obtain certification in FDACS Public Health Pest Control within six (6) months of appointment and maintain thereafter.
Must possess a set of professional tools appropriate for the maintenance of Bell 206 and MD 520N helicopters.
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire.
Must obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days and maintain thereafter.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities and meet the minimum qualifications. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds. Ability to see, hear, walk, stand, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel, smell, climb, reach, handle; manual dexterity. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception and color acuity) necessary to operate motorized vehicle, read schematics and ensure close tolerances and specifications are met working with aircraft components.
Environmental Demands: Inside and outside work. Ability to tolerate inclement weather including heat, rain, humidity, cold), fumes, odors, noise, vibration, and dust. Potential exposure to chemicals, pesticides, confined spaces, welder flash, grinding dust, hot engines and sandblasting.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions; safety instructions, schematics; instructions, procedures, memos. Ability to perform shop math. Ability to write at a level to relay information, instructions, data, details and ideas. Ability to speak clearly and concisely to relay instructions, directions, details, and information.
