Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$63,648.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$66,831.00

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician III provides oversight and conducts aircraft maintenance to include all required inspections (inspection authorization/IA) in support of Aims Community College's Aviation Department, under the Public Safety, Education, and Transportation Division, the Aircraft Maintenance Technician III works at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland, Colorado. The staff member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purposes of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog and be a part of scholarly and creative activities (professional development) and service to the college. This position will perform/oversee aircraft maintenance and inspections in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations/guidance as they pertain to aircraft airworthiness. Assist with the management/regulatory compliance of all manuals, tools, parts, and consumables associated with the aircraft maintenance in support of the Aims Community College's Aviation Department. This position will provide oversight to ensure the all duties & responsibilities listed in this document are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

This position will act in the absence of the Director, Aircraft Maintenance for all Aircraft Maintenance decisions

Aircraft Maintenance:

  • Troubleshooting of aircraft system discrepancies.
  • Performing required inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on aircraft and associated aircraft appliances in accordance with established schedules and as directed.
  • Providing on-call aircraft and flight crew support, on rotating basis.
  • Providing local aircraft departure and arrival support – preflight checks, post-flight checks, ramp positioning, as well as oversee line service and fueling processes.
  • Testing, adjustments, and repairs on aircraft and subsystems using various test equipment, technical diagrams, maintenance manuals, and tooling
  • Researching and investigating all possible solutions to engine, airframe, and associated appliance malfunctions.
  • Replacement of parts such as LRUs, avionics, hydraulic, fuel, and other aircraft system components.
  • Exercising sound judgment and experience to accomplish a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Perform aircraft tug maintenance as required.

Maintenance Control:

  • Assist with coordinating and scheduling all planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance for Aims fleet.
  • Providing on-call aircraft and flight crew support, on rotating basis.
  • Manage, compose and sign off aircraft logbook entries and records.
  • Ensure all Aims aircraft are safe and airworthy before being returned to service by producing quality and detailed workmanship.
  • Perform quality assurance for all aircraft maintenance tools, equipment, and personnel.
  • Tracking time and/or service-limited parts aircraft appliances.
  • Assist with sourcing aircraft parts as well as consumables while assessing cost and budget impact.

Assist with Administrative & Managerial Functions:

  • Maintain aircraft parts inventory to ensure adequate supplies are on hand for aircraft maintenance.
  • Assists with budget development as it pertains to Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Train, and provide daily direction for all aircraft maintenance personnel including but not limited to equipment list and on the job training.
  • Act in the absence of the Director, Aircraft Maintenance for all Aircraft Maintenance decisions.
  • Coordinate aircraft maintenance activities with Flight Operations Coordinator and Aviation Department leadership.
  • Assisting in maintaining all ground support equipment.
  • Assisting with hangar maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Assisting with maintaining aircraft cleanliness.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of operational aircraft maintenance experience with one (1) year of operational aircraft maintenance experience in General Aviation or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization (can be expired at time of hire, but must become current within sixty (60) days of hire)

  • Experience in risk management and mitigation.

  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization (can be expired at time of hire, but must become current within sixty (60) days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Aviation, Engineering, Education, or another related field

  • Three (3) years operational aircraft maintenance experience in General Aviation

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in aircraft maintenance.

  • Letter of designation DME (Designated Maintenance Examiner)

  • High level of trade specific computer skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Experience in conflict management .

  • FAA pilot certifications.

  • Experience with safety management systems.
