Position Summary:

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician – Airframe and Powerplant (A&P), Inspection Authorized (IA) will inspect, repair, test, and perform other general tasks related to the maintenance and repair of aircraft structures. In addition, the Aircraft Maintenance Technician will perform, supervise, and conduct general scheduled and unscheduled maintenance including but not limited to: determine equipment malfunctions, interprets technical documentation, restore equipment condition and/or operation and ensures all aircraft are airworthy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing and reviewing regular and preventative maintenance of aircraft, components, and equipment in accordance with Company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and perform required maintenance and repairs on aircraft, engines and a variety of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components and accessories including but not limited to: engines, propellers, instruments, gauges, landing gear, starters, generators, fuel pumps, valves, other pressurized areas, hydraulic pumps, air conditioning, actuators, wheels, tires and brakes.
  • Interpret technical manuals, instructions, schematics, and drawings to test equipment and utilize special tools to complete aircraft inspections, troubleshoot and repair aircraft electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot systems by completing operational and functional checks, service oil, fuel and hydraulic systems, provide nitrogen and oxygen servicing, inspect and repair pitot static systems and battery services.
  • Research and repair aircraft discrepancies efficiently and/or parts requirements utilizing technical knowledge and computer systems, and properly documenting all work performed. Follow shop calibration records and Company procedures to ensure calibration of all shop test equipment is accurate, report all discrepancies to your supervisor and the FBO Manager.
  • Make required work order entries for discrepancies and corrective actions, accurately record aircraft maintenance form entries in all applicable systems.
  • Comply with Aircraft Service Bulletins, Airworthiness, Directive and FAA regulations, and stays current and up-to-date on changes to these regulations and others governing the AMT work and responsibilities.
  • Remove and install aircraft components and adjusting and rigging of engine controls, in addition to installing/adding optional equipment to aircraft.
  • Re-fuel, de-fuel and testing of aircraft fuel systems and components.
  • Perform daily inspection checks, preventative maintenance and/or service on ground support equipment with fuel, water, oil and hydraulic fluid.
  • Conduct detailed inspections between take-offs and landings. 
  • Complete aircraft pressurization checks, engine run-up, taxi checks to test system performance, and sheet metal work, riveting, patching and fiberglass/composite work.
  • Participate in test flights for maintenance, system performance, troubleshoot and alignment. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely documents and records of all maintenance activities of the aircrafts overseen, including inspections, repairs, and parts inventory, in compliance with FAA regulation.
  • Performs lifting, towing, manual movement, and aircraft jacking.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and move aircraft in close proximity of people, facilities, and other aircraft using extreme caution. Follows Company procedures for personal safety as well as the safety of others and safeguarding Company and customer property.
  • Assist in customer scheduled maintenance requests to include but not limited to the following: annual/100-hour and progressive inspections to identify and address any mechanical, structural, and/or avionics issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with other departments and personnel at the FBO, including line service operations and concierge services, to ensure seamless coordination and timely completion of maintenance projects.
  • Abide by emergency response procedures when/if critical events occur.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations and environmental health and safety laws, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know and other safety requirements.
  • Having the equipment, facilities, and inspection data available to properly perform Inspection Authorization (IA) duties and functions, and makes recommendations to the FBO Manager if additional equipment is needed.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the Company, its personnel, or customers.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
  • Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies.  
  • Completes other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a current, valid FAA-issued Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate for at least (3) three years.
  • Possesses a current, valid FAA-issued Inspection Authorized (IA) certificate for at least (2) two years.
  • A minimum of two (2) years current general aviation maintenance experience, preferred.
  • A complete set of tools designed for or appropriate for aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency and experience in performing 100-hour inspections and annual inspections.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including being able to dissect complex situations, gather the relevant information, and come to a reasonable conclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including face-to-face, over the phone and written communication.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; and maintain good working relationships with others.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers and fellow employees at all times.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision demonstrating self-motivation to complete work tasks.
  • A professional appearance and manner consistent with Company culture must be maintained.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to successfully pass and maintain issuance of Airport Identification and Badging.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel requirements.
  • Must successfully complete Company’s training programs.
  • Willingness to participate in the Company’s required Random Drug Testing Program according to 14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40 if assigned to complete Part 121 and/or Part 135 air carrier contract maintenance.
