The AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 (Armament/Electrical Specialty) troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

  • Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is required for Germany (TESA) approval.

  • A Valid (FAA) A&P certificate or FCC License (with Elements 1 and 3) is Required. 

  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Govt Clearance and/or the NAC-I T1 Public Trust. Valid US Passport for deployment.

  • Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance with a primary expertise as an AH-64D/E mechanic, repair functions including assembly and modification on a variety of Army and other DoD cross-service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.

  • Install, connect, and adjust complete systems such as fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission: install and align fuselage parts; balance, align, and install tail rotor assemblies; rig complete flight control systems.

  • Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.

  • Make operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassemble to point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign or replace defective component or assembly.

  • Must be able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.

  • Must be able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.

  • Direct the work of lower-graded mechanics for complete assembly, modification and checkout of the entire aircraft and coordinate with related trades such as general mechanics and sheet metal to assure proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.

  • Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.

  • Perform additions duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required. 

  • Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is required for Germany (TESA) approval.

  • FAA A&P or FCC Elements 1 and 3 Required. (If willing and able to obtain an FCC License, discuss with Recruiter).

  • With FAA A&P certification, shall have at least Two (2) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned MDS (AH-64/UH-60). All combined experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.

  • Without valid A&P certification, must possess an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3), shall have at least Three (3) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned AH-64/UH-60 Mission Design Series (MDS). 

  • All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance, (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Govt Clearance and/or the NAC-I T1 Public Trust. (Interim NAC-I approval is required prior to deployment).

  • Must possess a Valid US Passport; Required for travel to Germany.

Germany Specific

  • TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.

  • Travel: As required in support of task order.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and II and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

  • Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Shall have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, utilizing the Army's Logistics Information System (e.g., ACN, ULLS-A).

  • Shall have a basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.

  • Shall have the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.

  • Shall have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.

  • Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.

Additional and Physical Requirements

  • Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.

  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work task.

  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.

  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
