POSITION OVERVIEW
AITC is seeking applicants for Aircraft Mechanic I positions at Ft. Eustis, VA. This position is in support of the ATMP (Army Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations Maintenance Program) contract.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
- Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
- Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
- Reads and interprets OEM's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies.
- Performs periodic inspections on devices as determined by the OEM and local policy.
- Performs miscellaneous duties to service and maintain aircraft appearance.
- Creates, updates and closes maintenance records of the work performed.
- Assures necessary spares are ordered, tracked and consumed properly within the CMMS software.
- This worker may be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 2 - 4 years' experience as an Aircraft Mechanic

- Must be able to work all shifts as requested.
- Must be able to travel to various locations as requested.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver’s license, post driving privileges and post access.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Bend, squat, climb, and reach.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
- May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 20-30 lbs. overhead, climb 6-10 ft. ladders (with appropriate safety gear)
