Responsible for inspecting aircraft, documenting findings, training personnel, and performing organizational level maintenance. Advise team members and solve unusual maintenance problems by troubleshooting, testing, and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, fuel, rotor, drive systems, and auxiliary components. This individual is capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, and IIs.

Essential Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Direct a team in the performance of scheduled, unscheduled, phase, calendar, conditional, and special inspections as required. Inspect, remove, replace MV-22 components such as engines, APU’s, prop-rotor, tilt axis, and mid-wing gearboxes, hubs, landing gear, actuators, and all other components related to safe and effective mission operability.

The Mechanic II position requires proficiency utilizing NALCOMIS to report, document, update and finalize any discrepancies and repairs while performing maintenance and inspections. The ideal candidate will have experience using Naval Aviation Maintenance Publications such as the 4790.2 and IETMS to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in drive systems, electronics, aircraft structures, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

Dependent on specialty, this position will require expert knowledge of the following:

  • Slip rings, FADEC, WIA, BFCU, CMS, EWIS, schematics, and other avionics related components.

  • Full and complete rigging of proprotor hubs and blade fold controls, fuel cell removal and installation, troubleshooting, removal, and replacement of engines, PRGB, TAGB, MWGB, APU, SDC, ICDS, exhaust and other related flight line components.

  • Hydraulic sampling and servicing, troubleshooting and replacement of landing gear, panels, fasteners, aircraft tires, actuators, and windscreens. This position may also require the installation and rigging of flight surface controls to include flap, rudder, elevator, conversion, and swashplate actuators in addition to other structural, hydraulic, and airframe components.

  • Perform duties of Collateral Duty Inspector.

Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data and directives, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.  Five (5) years actual and recent systems experience required.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain CDI qualification within 60 days of employment.

  • Candidates are required to supply their own hand tools; specialty tools will be provided.

  • Requires previous Flight Line (611******), Airframes (6156), and/or Avionics (6326) MOS.

  • Must have qualifications and schooling prior to employment.

  • If military experience, provide JST.

  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

Security Clearance and Government Access: 

Must be able to obtain & maintain a NACI clearance to receive a common access card (CAC) to access Post and Military Websites. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

This classification’s activities range from, an office-like environment with extensive sitting demands to a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May occasionally be required to lift objects whose weight exceeds 30 pounds. Special vision abilities to perform this job are close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The diversity of work conditions may range from an office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to a flight line environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards.
