Description

Performs mechanical stripping of paint materials, corrosion repair and mitigation, modifications to and structural repair on aircraft panels, surfaces, and structural components; inspect and evaluate structural damage to aircraft sheet metal systems; and prepares composite surfaces using state of the art materials, methods, procedures and inspections. Properly positions and utilizes equipment, work stands, and fall protection devices including motorized aerial, scissor lifts and other motorized power lifts; operates Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) to include, but not limited to: aircraft jacks, work stands and scaffolds, high pressure washers, and high pressure air hoses. Tapes windows, landing gear, plastic, and fiberglass to protect from chemicals; acid etch and wash, prime epoxy, apply paint; makes general repairs by manufacturing and installing new parts and reinforcing, patch and replace defective parts; performs modifications to aircraft structure and conducts final inspections. Prepares aircraft, components, and parts for coatings removal. Removes or disassembles aircraft parts, components and access panels, and performs strip and cleaning operations in preparation for aircraft overhaul and technical order compliance changes. Performs structural repairs: identifies and uses sealants, performs corrosion removal and treatment, performs proper selection of material (metals) for repairs, performs Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), removes/installs taper-lock fasteners/taper-lock drilling, removes/reinstalls truss mount bolts for eddy current inspect and uses cold working tooling. Performs corrosion repair IAW engineering instructions and specifications to attain corrosion-free panels and structural components. Performs corrosion mitigation using various materials such as primers, paints, titanium barrier, and applique IAW engineering instructions and specifications. Uses principles of radial-line development combined with parallel-line development to devise and calculate patterns for complex structure. Devises and calculates patterns for items to be manufactured, repaired or modified. Remove, locate, fit, trim, drill, and install all primary and secondary aircraft structures and skins.
