COHO Consulting Group is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic to join our team in support of a contract at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA.  Aircraft mechanics install, adjust, align, troubleshoot and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gearboxes, pumps, and hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems. Aircraft mechanics perform flight line maintenance of aircraft including functional testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all airframe mechanical systems, or post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on functional check flights.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • The makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engine(s), landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces.
  • Performing flight line maintenance of assigned and transient operational aircraft, including functional testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all airframe mechanical systems, or post assembly checkout, adjustment, and repair of overhauled and modified aircraft to prepare for and correct deficiencies found on functional check flights.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, modify and service aircraft avionics, electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Perform and document all work per appropriate manuals and regulations as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair components detached from the aircraft, for example, flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudders, doors, and leading edges
  • Comply with environmental health / safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with mechanical / electrical removals and installations
  • May assist with maintenance at off-site locations
  • Operate ground support equipment if required
  • Transport aircraft for maintenance using tugs as needed

Requirements:

  • Clearance
    • Must pass a government background check to include fingerprints.
  • Education:
    • Have a certificate from Avionics / electric A/C Technical School or equivalent military/vendor training is preferred
    • Ground Support Equipment Qualifications and/or Engine Run Qualification may be required
    • A&P license OR A license is preferred
    • GROL (General Radiotelephone Operator License) or AET (Aircraft Electronics Technician) Certificate is preferred
  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year avionics work experience or substantiated equivalent experience; corporate jet aircraft / commercial aircraft experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, subsystems, and assemblies such as ejection seats, nuclear shielding, or similar self-contained systems.
    • The use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment of the trade including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands and external power sources.
    • Skill in reading and understanding data and settings from cockpit instruments.
    • Skill in the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment including fixtures, templates, scales, test stands, and external power sources.
    • Know activity supply procedures to be able to initiate requisitions for needed parts and supplies and have a thorough knowledge of the publication order system to obtain the most up-to-date technical manuals and to propose changes to publications when they find a discrepancy.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
    • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
    • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
    • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
    • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
    • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
    • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
    • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
