General Description and Classification Standards
Conducts security inspections and audits of the airport property as part of the Insider Threat Program. Overseas the daily operations of the computerized access system, reports on security deficiencies, acts as lead worker with junior staff on airport security duties. Mentors and trains junior staff members.
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision. May work independently or with other staff with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operates security equipment and systems to manage daily activities involved with maintaining airport security.
• Trains and mentors newer employees on system operation and procedures of airport safety.
• Performs daily duties and tasks as assigned.
• Conducts safety audits of airport to ensure current safety procedures are in place and functioning properly.
• Creates detailed reports based on cases related to the Insider Threat Program. Enters data and other security information into the airport computer system.
• Prepares reports and other forms to submit security status to management and outside agencies.
• Works with lost and found office to assist in the return of property to airport employees and visitors.
• Communicates with airport staff and visitors to inform them of security requirements and procedures to explain any issues that arise.

Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. May modify procedures based on circumstances encountered. Leadership Provided Serves as lead technical resource and mentor to other employees. May lead or supervise less experienced staff in completing assigned duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of federal, state and local regulations on airport security.
• Knowledge of the operation and use of computer systems and equipment utilized in the airport for security purposes.
• Skill in conducting security audits, analysis, risk assessment, identifying deficiencies in security procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
• Ability to carryout assignments and lead others in their completion.
• Ability to operate airport security equipment and systems to maintain efficient delivery of services.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, airport administration, business administration or related field.
1-2 years' experience in airport security or other security operations.
Preferred Education & Experience
Masters degree in aviation management, business management or a related field and 1-2 years' experience in airport security or other security operations.
Licensures and Certifications
