Assistant Airport Security Coordinator

Description

The Assistant Airport Security Coordinator reports to the Airport Security Coordinator and assists in all aspects of the airport security operations by ensuring that the airport remains in compliance with all security requirements regulated by the Transportation Security Regulations (TSR) 1542, Security Directives, the Airport Security Program, Airport Rules and Regulations, federal, state, and local laws.  

Examples of Duties

Supervises the airport Badging Office. Provides guidance to airport tenants and users regarding security issues.  Performs and documents regular security inspections of tenant facilities, terminals, and airport grounds to ensure compliance of regulations.   Reviews all security-related functions. Conducts security assessments, audits, and security tests.  Assists with processing security violations.  Responds to requests for information from TSA, federal/local law enforcement agencies and airport stakeholders.   Maintains/updates the Airport Security Program or other security related documents.  Coordinates, conducts, and participates in security outreach training programs.  Attends construction and other airport sponsored/tenant meetings.  Conducts fingerprinting and security background checks.

Qualifications:

A successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and high levels of trustworthiness and integrity.  Candidates must undergo a successful Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), Security Threat Assessment (STA), and Drug Screening due to Sensitive Security Information.

• Supervisory experience and previous airport security experience preferred.
• Position requires on call status during nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Airport Security Coordinator certification or obtain the certification within the first six months of hiring.
• Upon hiring, must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.

Supplemental Information

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
