As the Director of Avionics and Communications, you will report to the Vehicle Director and directly support and influence program execution for all electrical systems.
The project management and technical integration products developed support the lunar permanence business unit in its mission to deliver cargo services and crewed landing missions to the lunar surface. This position will support all aspects of the electrical power systems product team management to include accountability and oversight of cost, schedule, technical design, risk management and organization management. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading the Avionics and Communications system engineering teams
Apply expertise in project management, technical product maturation, and organization development to develop efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Assist the Electrical Systems team in developing and maintaining technical, cost, and schedule baselines.
Prepare for and support execution of program reviews, including to Lunar Permanence Senior Management.
Help develop and maintain the vehicle meeting and review operating rhythm.
Recruit, hire, manage, and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team
Manage your direct reports’ professional development (e.g., coaching, routine one-on-one development conversations, performance reviews, and promotion management)
including support in managing demand signals.
Develop robust plans meeting deliverables and manage to the key operating metrics - including technical, cost, schedule, and risk
Work with internal and external customers to understand and shape stakeholder current and future mission needs
Provide technical leadership of the highest caliber as you coordinate for the vehicle director with each of the supporting Blue Origin business units and teams
Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables and risks as well as review recommendations for change with Vehicle Directors
Communicate progress to leadership team via; program management reviews weekly/monthly, finance reviews, long term forecasting business plan, and project deep dives
Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered
Support Agile based planning and execution
Qualifications:
Minimum BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.
5+ years of demonstrated experience in relevant areas of engineering operations
10+ years of industry technical experience involving system formulation, research and development, and/or operations applied to spacecraft systems and environments
Strong team leadership and people management skills
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired:
MBA or Masters in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering or Scientific field.
Experience with space hardware procurement and supplier management
Experience with MS Project, Jira and Primavera P6
Experience with flight hardware development and qualification
Experience with design/build/test project methodology
Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM
Compensation Range for:
CO applicants is $200,653.00-$280,913.85;WA applicants is $211,905.00-$296,665.95Other site ranges may differ
