Vast is looking for an Avionics Supply Chain Leader, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Quality and Supply Chain, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Avionics design engineers to understand their product roadmap. Lead and orchestrate the roadmap reviews between engineering and suppliers, find solutions, create proposals, and implement to meet business requirements, striking a balance between supply continuity, cost, and delivery.
- Investigate and source next generation technology, provide technical expertise, special knowledge and market trends to engineering, including driving value engineering through ideation and execution.
- Serve as the Avionics Supply Chain leader for all demand. Define, implement, and manage the end-to-end value stream for all Vast Space Avionics demand.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Customers to develop and manage a best-in-class and optimized Avionics supply base that exceeds Vast’s unique requirements; including technical, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Collaborate with Vast Supplier Quality to develop and implement a strategic sourcing program that identifies opportunities for strategic sourcing, and develops and monitors underperforming Avionics suppliers.
- Continue to lead, grow and mentor the Avionics Sourcing organization, including engaging in long-term organizational design, team building and hiring, retention and continuous training.
- Leverage best practices to drive improved quality, delivery excellence, and continually reduce costs and improve the products and services for our customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering discipline
- At least ten years of experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Engineering and/or Supplier Quality
- At least five years of experience building and leading teams which includes more than two years managing people managers
- Advanced project management skills and the ability to influence change across a multi-disciplinary operation
- Knowledge of quality/manufacturing processes especially with Avionics product categories.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problem / root cause analysis (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)
- Strong background in supply chain, either in Demand Planning, Commodity Management or Strategic Sourcing, with a complete understanding of the end-to-end demand identification through fulfillment process.
- Ability to operate both strategically, tactically and operationally in a fast-paced environment; builds scalable systems and processes, rather than just addressing single issues.
- Strong business acumen, including finance acumen.

- Master’s Degree
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

Sr Manager, Avionics Supply Chain M4: $130,000 - $190,000

Director, Avionics Supply Chain M5: $155,000 - $220,000
