Newly created role based on the Sunshine Coast for an experienced quality and safety professional looking to advance their career. Reporting to the QA & Safety Manager, the successful incumbent will be developed for succession.

About Us

McDermott Aviation is Australia’s largest privately owned Heli-Aviation company, operating from bases across Australian, Europe and the USA and home to the world’s largest fleet of the most powerful, single engine, twin bladed helicopter – the Bell 214B. We provide Aerial Fire Fighting, Emergency Assistance, Charter and Helicopter lifting services and support.

The Role

This role will be responsible for all safety, quality and environment functions across AU and USA. You will foster a pro-active safety culture, partner with operations leaders and deliver programs of work that align to our mission of providing aviation solutions for the global community through innovation, safety, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the alignment between our quality management system, business and safety management systems
  • Oversee the Safety management system and ensure compliance to legislation, CASA and FAA regulations
  • Review and organise internal audits and responsible for all compliance with all external audits
  • Review, develop and coordinate the preparation of safety documentation
  • Supervise the QA & Safety team
  • Coordinate the development and revision of SOP’s
  • Maintain and report all safety related data, including the minutes of safety meetings
  • Identify and analyse risks, recommending cost efficient and controllable solutions
  • Oversee the quality and document control systems, hazard register and training matrix
  • Formulating quality assurance policies and ensuring they satisfy the CASA requirements for continued validity of the terms and conditions of the Maintenance Approval granted

About You:

  • 5+ years experience in a quality assurance and safety
  • Experience in aviation
  • Knowledge of CASA regulations preferred
  • Quality audit qualification or experience preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure and in complex environments
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to work autonomously and be part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to rapid change associated with growth
