Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System has an opening for an Electrical Avionics Technician 3. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. You will be supporting the B-2 modification team at Whiteman AFB, Mo. This position requires a security clearance, so an active clearance is preferred, but a clearance request will be submitted for the selected candidate if necessary. The nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working in a classified environment; cell phones and personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.
Your duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Install, test, troubleshoots and repairs aircraft avionics and electrical system components in accordance with testing, engineering, maintenance and installation directives
Performs all duties required to lay out, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable on aircraft
Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary
Cuts wire to length, strips insulation from wire ends, and insulates connections with plastic sleeves
Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as: transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners such as bolts, screws, or solder
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
Able to obtain full face respirator certification
Daily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systems
Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor
Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance and team effectiveness
The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 – 1500, 2nd shift 1430 – 2300 and overtime when required.
Your maintenance tasks include (but are not limited to)
Maintenance tasks include configuring aircraft for modifications, removal and installation of attaching hardware, component removal and installations, assistance with software uploads, and various system operational checkouts
Technical requirements also include fault isolation, troubleshooting, and repair of system failures detected during operational checks associated with maintenance and restoration of aircraft to flying condition subsequent to accomplishment of modifications and maintenance
Interprets and uses various test equipment and works from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals
Must obtain and maintain qualifications as directed by supervisor
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years electrical experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals
Must be able to successfully complete and pass electrical training class for Continued Employment
Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working overhead
Must be able to access small confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment
The ability to pass Special Medical/Respiratory Exam
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Secret clearance is required prior to starting
Must be able to obtain required Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet business needs
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include second shift, extended shifts, weekends, and occasional holidays to support modification team work
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years
Completion of A&P certificate program or Associates degree in an applicable field
Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask, prioritize, solve problems, and work independently with minimal supervision
