The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Fire Captain to join the team in Mesa, AZ

The Boeing Fire Department is the world’s largest industrial fire department. Boeing firefighters provide a safe working environment and are ready to respond to emergencies and disasters at our Boeing sites. Boeing is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Mesa Fire team. This team member will perform multi-discipline duties while being a collaborative team player who demonstrates a sense of urgency. This position is perfect for a self-starter who takes initiative in completing actions independently.

As a Fire Captain, you will be tasked with ensuring your assigned team has the necessary tools to complete their jobs effectively. Whether it be time, training, resources, or general knowledge, you will evaluate your team and help them discover their strengths and weaknesses so that they can grow as individuals. You are expected to work with teammates from other shifts and collaborate with fire department management to ensure the teammates are able to meet company, enterprise and site leadership expectations as their job requires. The Fire Captain is the leader of their team. If timelines or expectations cannot be met, you must communicate with fire department management to evaluate the issues and find resolution so that the mission can be completed. Finally, you are expected to cultivate an environment of inclusion with your team where everybody can express themselves equally.   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Certifications as required for 1st Aid/EMT/HazMat

  • Coordinate shift activities

  • Assign and perform general duties:

    • Hot Work Permits

    • Monthly and Annual Extinguisher Inspection

    • Monthly Valve Inspections

    • System Impairments

    • Vehicle and Station Cleanliness

  • Ensure Thorough and accurate completion of all record keeping:

    • Fire Prevention-based Activities

    • Medical Reports

    • Training

  • Maintain shift continuity

    • Ensure staffing levels are maintained at the predesignated number

  • Notify management of any deviations that will affect contractual requirements

    • Mandatory overtime

    • Assignments as directed by Fire Management

  • Ensure completion of sift training in a safe and professional manner

  • Establish command and direct duties of firefighters while mitigating emergency situations utilizing the IMS and Personal Accountability systems

    • Complete all required reports

  • Maintain a safe work environment

  • Ensure completion of required vehicle inspections to include emergency response, support vehicles and mounted equipment.  Ensure thorough and accurate completion of appropriate record keeping pertinent w to this task

  • Support mutual aid only with the direct approval of fire department management

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2+ years of experience as a paid full-time Firefighter or any combination of 3+ years of experience as a full-time, part time or volunteer Firefighter within the last 5 years

  • Current National Registry or Arizona State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

  • Current CPR certification

  • Current valid driver’s license

  • State, IFSAC or Proboard Firefighter 1 certification

  • State, IFSAC or Proboard Firefighter 2 certification

  • Ability to pass and maintain a Firefighter physical/stress test

  • Willing to work variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • State, IFSAC or ProBoard Airport Rescue Firefighter certification

  • State, IFSAC or ProBoard Fire Officer Certification

  • Experience with leading a team in a multitude of environments (emergency response, daily taskings, projects)

  • Experience with interpersonal communications and conflict resolution

  • Experience with Fire Protection System

Summary pay range: $64,600 – $87,400
