Position: Flight Technician
Location: Outstations
Department: Maintenance Technical Operations
Reports To: Maintenance Control Center

Job Summary:

The Flight Technician is responsible for ensuring all paperwork and records are completed and handled in accordance with Company Manuals & Federal Regulations. This role involves conducting thorough aircraft inspections, monitoring Deferred Maintenance Items (DMI), troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining direct communication with Maintenance Control Center (MCC). The Flight Technician provides proactive oversight of aircraft conditions before departure and after arrival, ensuring all maintenance tasks are properly documented and addressed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow Global Crossing GMM and Airbus Maint. Manuals for references.

Pre-Departure & Post-Arrival Duties:

  • Conduct detailed walk-around inspections upon aircraft arrival and before departure to identify any discrepancies or maintenance concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.
  • Verify aircraft readiness for the next flight, coordinating with MCC to resolve outstanding issues.

Deferred Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Review and track DMI logs, ensuring that all deferred maintenance items are properly documented and addressed.
  • Perform troubleshooting of aircraft systems as needed, coordinating with MCC for corrective actions.
  • Provide real-time updates on maintenance status and technical concerns.

Trax Maintenance Software Responsibilities:

  • Input work orders and maintenance tasks into the Trax maintenance system in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and work performed.

 

  • Maintain proper tracking of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance items through Trax.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Maintain open and consistent communication with MCC, Line Maintenance, and Flight Crews to keep all parties informed of aircraft status.
  • Monitor emails and directives while on duty, ensuring timely responses to maintenance-related inquiries.
  • Accurately document and report all findings, actions taken, and follow-ups in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • FAA A&P Certification (Required).
  • Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, preferably with Airbus A320 Family aircraft (preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under time-sensitive conditions. (preferred)
  • Experience using Trax or similar maintenance tracking software. (preferred)
  • Ability to travel as required and support operations in remote locations.
  • Ensure timely arrival for all assigned flights.

 

Additional Expectations:

  • Ensure all assigned aircraft comply with MEL/CDL limitations and maintenance requirements.
  • Uphold the highest safety and regulatory standards in accordance with FAA and company policies.
  • Be proactive in addressing maintenance concerns to prevent potential AOG situations.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining fleet reliability and ensuring safe, on-time operations. A high level of attention to detail, technical expertise, and strong communication skills is essential.

 


WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

TRAVEL: 

This position requires up to 80 percent travel, including weekends and holidays, overnight travel is expected. Responsible for AOG events and approvals in the United States. Must have a clean driving record.
