Flight Test Radio Technician (Associate or Mid-Level)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Flight Test Radio Technician to join our team in Seattle, WA. As a Radio Services Technician, you will support flight testing with a variety of services including HF/VHF/UHF, Microwave, GPS (Global Positioning System), Wind Stations, Landing Navigation systems, and Satellite systems. You may be called upon to perform research/ordering of equipment, installation/testing of radios, software development/testing, or to directly support flight tests by operating test support equipment in the field.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. They will be adaptable and learn new skills quickly.

This position may require up to 30% travel, both domestically and internationally and this position is a non-flying position supporting flight testing.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate or Mid-Level Flight Test Radio Technicians.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot VHF, UHF, and HF radio equipment and antenna systems

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audio and video distribution equipment (analog and digital)

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry and data systems

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Wind Station, GBAS, PGBAS, TCAS Hardware

  • Travel to remote locations to do all of the above

  • Stay knowledgeable and current in the field

  • Support weekend work

  • Support short-term travel, domestic and international

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience working in a laboratory and/or test environment

  • Ability to obtain an FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL)

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Able to lift up to 35lbs

  • Strong and clear communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Associate degree or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering

  • Have an active FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL)

  • Experience with fundamental radio design and operation

  • Experience with radio equipment (VHF, UHF, and HF)

  • Experience with broadcasting and receiving signals over satellite systems

  • Experience with point-to-point data connections over IP networks

  • Experience with field operations on airports

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Associate level (Level 2): $51,000 – $69,000

Summary Pay Range for Mid-level (Level 3):  $59,500 – $80,500
