Capability Unit 

Metrea Air Mobility (AIRMOB) operates a fleet of KC-135 aircraft, offering an air-to-air refueling service that seamlessly, safely, and professionally integrates into military aviation training and operations. 

 

Position Summary 

Support Metrea Air Mobility (AIRMOB) and Tanker Fleet Management Office (FMO-K) Heavy Aircraft Maintenance Division to act as a KC-135 Heavy Maintenance Technical Representative that has an in-depth technical and maintenance understanding of the KC-135 aircraft, avionics systems, and PDM requirements. Work with and alongside 3rd party MRO organizations and Metrea Technical Representative heavy maintenance teams so they have the knowledge base to perform heavy maintenance tasks and requirements. KC-135 Technical Representatives adhere to strict regulatory guidelines set by Metrea Maintenance Management plans and aviation authorities, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Their meticulous work and attention to detail contribute to aircraft's overall safety and reliability, playing a critical role in the aviation industry.

 

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Technical Representative during Heavy Maintenance events (including aircraft transitions) at MRO facilities following-up the maintenance activities to ensure compliance with customer contractual and quality standards and, where necessary, report any deficiency and to take the relevant corrective actions. 
  • Be the maintenance Avionics Subject Matter Expert for the KC-135 Aircraft Fleet. 
  • Knowledgeable of how to properly conduct troubleshooting of Avionics and Electrical systems for KC-135 Aircraft. 
  • To review the scheduled maintenance plan and to ensure appropriate communication with all relevant stakeholders in terms of defects, materials and extra works management. 
  • Definition and execution of Physical Inspections and the subsequent management of discrepancy list items. 
  • Leverage your aviation experience and industry network to contribute significantly to our team. 
  • Knowledgeable of Special tooling, equipment, and testing equipment required for system repairs. 
  • Support Logistics in the identification of Vendors and overhaul of parts. 
  • Act as a liaison between the 3rd party MRO and Metrea. 
  • Ensuring that all aircraft maintenance, inspection, modification, and delivery is completed to the highest quality 
  • Continuous surveillance of work in progress and managing the assigned projects to insure on time delivery 
  • Ensuring that all documentation provided to the Breeze records department regarding the aircraft Maintenance/ Delivery is complete and free of, omissions, and obvious errors 
  • Approving all maintenance and inspection tasks prior to start of work 
  • Performing quality audits during and after work is completed 
  • Performing spot inspections of work in progress 
  • Performing continuous surveillance of maintenance support shop areas 
  • Documenting all discrepancies found and keeping Metrea leadership informed 
  • Attending and/or calling all Provider meetings relating to the aircraft work and inspection process 
  • Maintaining a progress log that accurately presents the status of the aircraft, the remaining work, and the inspection requirements 
  • Overseeing pre-flight inspections and accompanying test flight crews on functional check flights 
  • Aircraft Technical Representative (a Licensed A&P) provides direct and continuous oversight of company aircraft during visits to Essential Maintenance Providers (EMP), Paint Facilities, and Aircraft Delivery.   
  • Ensuring proper release of aircraft to and from service including work package review 

 

Skills and Experience 

 

Education, Experience, and Certificates 
 Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-year degree in Aerospace, Aviation Maintenance, or Business preferred

 

Experience: 

  • 7 years of aircraft avionics maintenance experience 
  • 2 years of experience as a Heavy Maintenance Technical Representative an FAR 121 air carrier or Military Depot. 
  • Previous experience on KC-135 avionics systems. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • KC-135 aircraft heavy/PDM maintenance experience preferred

 

Skills:

  • Good knowledge of the applicable EASA/FAA Regulatory Requirements. 
  • Ability to understand technical contractual language and derive the implications. 
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at one time and make decisions in a busy, fast-paced environment. 
  • Communicate/report clearly and effectively with all layers in organizations. 
  • English fluency is essential, both written and spoken. 
  • Able to demonstrate accuracy related to the maintenance execution. 
  • Ability to understand technical contractual language and derive the implications. 
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities at one time and make decisions in a busy, fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments. 
  • High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. 
  • Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success.
  • Communicate/report clearly and effectively with all layers in organizations. 
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Must be able to handle high-stress situations. 
  • Ability to work with fellow Team Members with a variety of personalities. 
  • Ability to multi-task easily. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move medium to heavy weights of 50 pounds or more. 
  • Able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently in relatively confined spaces. 

 

Certificates: 

  • An FAA A&P Certificate is required. 
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Current US Passport.

 

Computer Skills: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS) 
  • Experience with maintenance management software, particularly AMOS preferred

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change by department and business needs. Must be flexible and willing to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime if needed. Exempt employees must have the ability to be on-call and available as required by business needs. Non-exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager. 

Travel

Must be willing to travel over 70% and up to 100% of the time, including possible international business travel and able to travel without restrictions.

Work Environment
Tech rep typically works in a hangar environment at an MRO facility, often with a focus on large-scale repairs and inspections on aircraft during extended periods of downtime, requiring them to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and use specialized tools while adhering to strict safety regulations and deadlines, often with exposure to noise, vibrations, and varying weather conditions depending on the hangar setup; this role usually involves close collaboration with other maintenance technicians and quality control personnel to ensure thorough and compliant repairs.
