Lead Component Engineer Components & Powerplants

Role Introduction

Reports to: Components & Powerplants Manager

Departments: ENG - Engineering

As a Lead Component Engineer – Components & Powerplants, you will play a critical role in optimizing the cost of ownership for components across all Cathay fleets.

Key Responsibilities

• Tactical cost management via vetting of repair invoices and charges
• Overseeing the component recertification process
• Conduct regular review of actual component costs versus industry benchmarks
• Identifying cost drivers
• Working cross-functionally and with OEM’s and service providers to identify causes and implement mitigating actions for high cost components
• Pro-actively identifying future cost risks and defining and implementing mitigating actions
• Retention of value by retaining high-value components during aircraft lease returns/retirements
• Define and lead LEAN and other cross-functional improvement projects
• Deputise for Components and Powerplants Manager as required

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years' experience in aircraft maintenance and/or engineering
• Degree in Engineering / Aerospace or other relevant field
• Good analytical skills and process-oriented
• Good commercial and financial awareness and acumen
• Ability to work with OEM’s and external suppliers to define corrective actions
• Strong in communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
• Drive for excellence
• Adaptable and responsive to change. Demonstrated ability to identify and drive process improvements
