The specific role of Lead Maintenance Control Support Engineer involves addressing critical technical issues in Line Maintenance for Airframe and Avionics, minimizing operational disruptions, and promoting operational excellence across the airline.  

This role supports our Hong Kong Operations section in achieving a safe, punctual, defect-free service that not only meets but exceeds business and customer expectations. Additionally, the role focuses on driving efficiencies and continuous improvements within the business. 

Key Responsibilities


 

The joint Cathay Pacific/HAECO Centre of Excellence (COE) is the centre of the Hong Kong Line Maintenance Model that employs a collaborative approach between Cathay and HAECO teams to deliver a safe, compliant, on-time and customer focused operation and drives continuous business improvement. 

The Lead Maintenance Control Support Engineer works within COE to ensure operational technical issues are resolved efficiently with minimum disruption to the customer. The job holder needs to ensure that the Cathay Pacific fleets meet company targets for defect management and related safety, airworthiness, operational reliability and commercial performance. This is a key role within the Engineering organisation that requires a high degree of operational experience and time in position to become fully qualified and effective. 

The Lead Maintenance Control Support Engineer is a 7-days function, and the job holder will be required to work on shift in the COE. 

The Lead Maintenance Control Support Engineer is responsible for: 

  • Leading the Maintenance Control Support team by communicating business requirements, providing mentoring support and guidance to the team and tracking performance against business outcomes in support of a world class defect management function
  • Providing technical solutions for Line Maintenance Aircraft On Ground (AOG) or critical technical issues to minimise loss of aircraft availability to the airline 
  • Providing detailed troubleshooting instructions for significant and repetitive defects to minimise operational disruption
  • Overseeing deferred defect levels and managing outsourced defect management functions to ensure service levels, business requirements and customer expectations are met
  • Providing aircraft preventive and predictive maintenance recommendations based on various operational alerts and aircraft health monitoring tools, to minimise operational disruption 
  • Effectively identifying emerging fleet reliability issues and working closely with Engineering Technical Services to ensure effective timely mitigations and resolutions are implemented 
  • Providing assistance to Engineering Technical Services to perform technical investigations for events and broader fleet reliability issues        

Requirements


 

  • Typically 10 years’ certifying experience on aircraft types operated by Cathay Pacific or Air Hong Kong
  • Must be a holder of a HKAR 66 B1.1 or B2 aircraft maintenance engineer’s licence with appropriate type approval or equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction 
  • Proven work experience as a team leader or supervisor with demonstrated ability to set direction for the team
  • Proven work experience in the field of aircraft defect troubleshooting with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a demonstrated ability to rapidly assess information, consider options and arrive at the optimum operational decision  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to function as part of a team. Proven capability to influence across internal and external stakeholders to assertively drive operational excellence
  • Highly self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Preferably a holder of a Hong Kong driving licence or equivalent overseas driving licence that is approved by the HKSAR government for direct issue of a Hong Kong driving licence. 
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
