Summary:


A results-driven Quality Manager with extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industry specializing in regulatory compliance, process improvements, and customer satisfaction. Ensure adherence to stringent quality standards, including but not limited to, AS9100, ISO 9001 audits, NADCAP, FAA, DoD, DLA, and DCMA. Partnering with cross-functional teams, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency. Adept at managing supplier quality, audits, nonconformance investigations, and risk mitigation strategies. Strong background in customer engagement, root cause analysis (RCA), and Six Sigma/Lean methodologies to optimize quality performance and cost reduction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:  

  • Develop a culture of quality across the entire organization through collaborating and training
  • Ensure all products are produced to specifications 
  • Manage the quality function to ensure highly disciplined compliance with all products and process quality parameters and standards
  • Formulate and maintain quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies, goals, and KPI’s
  • Identify measurable KPIs relevant to inspection and overall quality performance, such as but not limited to, FPY, Defect Rate, Inspection Efficiency, Supplier Quality Performance.
  • Oversee the inspection and quality planning processes 
  • Assist in the measurement of operational performance and training needs 
  • Responsible for Regulatory Agency certification and periodic audits
  • Review and monitor government and customer quality system requirements to ensure procedures are adequate and in compliance
  • Analyze internal and external quality data and initiate effective corrective actions to reduce and eliminate adverse trends
  • Ensure timely responses to all quality activities and issues to meet scheduled needs of both internal and external customers
  • Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and corrective actions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees within the facility. 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; Ensures all safety rules and regulations are followed; investigates accidents in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.

Education and Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Quality, Engineering or related discipline required.  
  • Minimum of 7 + years progressively responsible quality experience in small or medium-sized manufacturing shops, including 3 years in supervisory positions. 
  • CQM/CQE Certificate highly desired
  • ISO9001, AS9100 lead auditor certification highly desired
  • Understanding of FMEA< Control Plan, and MSA highly desired


Required Skills:

  • Language: Must have excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking and able to use large amounts of data to make decisions. 
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Must possess basic knowledge of geometric tolerance. Must understand basic shop math. 
  • Other Abilities: Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Must possess thorough knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic. Must have knowledge to apply general use of databases/spreadsheets. Ability to complete the planning of workflow and meetings. Must have prior experience with the aerospace and defense industry serving world-wide customers. Must have strong organizational, project, and proposal management skills. Must be able to manage and prioritize workflow. Must have problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset. Must have previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.   


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand 4 to 6 hours a day. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk and sit on a regular basis. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis, with assistance. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. outside weather conditions, machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud while in the production environment.

  • Up to 25% domestic travel

$100,000 - $125,000 DOE
