Job Overview

Are you skilled in precision assembly, passionate about technical work, and looking to contribute to a high-impact team? As a Mechanical & Electrical Assembly Technician 3, you’ll play a crucial role in both the fabrication of structural components and the assembly of complex electrical systems for aerospace and defense applications. This dual position offers the opportunity to work on ground vehicles, aircraft, and specialized aerospace equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Mechanical Assembly Technician

Assemble Structural Components: Interpret and follow engineering drawings to fabricate and assemble structural components for aircraft and ground vehicles.

Quality Assurance & Protection: Review and safeguard completed assemblies, ensuring they meet company quality standards.

Testing & Validation: Perform functional checks on products to confirm operational quality.

Technical Collaboration: Work with other departments to resolve issues and prepare components for final inspection.

Repair & Refurbishment: Assist with the evaluation and repair of returned structural components.

Training & Mentorship: Support training efforts by guiding junior technicians.

 

Electrical Assembly Technician

Assemble & Troubleshoot Electrical Systems: Fabricate, assemble, and repair avionics/electrical modules, including wiring harnesses and other electrical components.

Electrical Testing & Diagnostics: Perform tests to ensure proper functionality and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Install Electrical Components: Set up wiring and electrical parts within modules and assemblies, following precise engineering blueprints.

Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate records of work completed, tests conducted, and materials used.

Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in electrical assembly.

Technical Collaboration: Work with manufacturing engineers to address deviations from standards and participate in corrective actions.

Tools & Equipment Used

Mechanical Equipment: Shear, hand brake, belt sander, band saw, milling machine, drill press, calibrated gauges, and various sheet metal tools.

Electrical Equipment: Crimping and soldering tools, electrical continuity checkers, and other diagnostic tools for electrical testing.

 

Certifications

Mechanical: FAA Airframe Mechanic Certificate preferred.

Electrical: FAA Repairman Certificate or FCC License preferred.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The role involves physical activity, including standing, bending, and occasional lifting of heavy components. Adherence to safety protocols is essential.

 

Travel Requirements: Up to 5%.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degrees in relevant trades preferred.

Experience:

Mechanical: 7+ years in mechanical or structural assembly.

Electrical: 8+ years in electronics/avionics, with experience in electrical systems, wire harness assembly, and troubleshooting.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in blueprint reading, use of assembly and precision tools, and electrical diagnostics.
