About This Role

                                                                                                         

We are looking for an experienced mechanical instructor to our P-8A team at RAF Lossiemouth. In this role, you will be responsible for providing engaging and informative engineering instruction in mechanics to our students at RAF Lossiemouth.

Core Hours:

Our Mechanical Instructors work an average of 8 hours per day between 0800 and 1800, Monday to Friday. 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Instructor, your main tasks will include:
•    Supporting engineering course design and maintenance, including providing generic engineering training advice on course content and objectives.
•    Mentoring students and preparing lessons.
•    Delivering the content of LSPECs and ASPECs.
•    Conducting post-lesson activities and other Operation Conversion Unit (OCU) activities as required.
•    Performing any other duties as needed.

Training Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for delivering the following training to students:
•    The P-8A Q-course for engineers.
•    Courses for all users of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
•    A General Familiarisation Course/Platform Managers' Course for the P-8A Poseidon Aircraft and associated Systems.
•    Training on the operation of the Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) to RAF personnel.
•    Engine Ground Run training, including initial and recurrent training.
•    Other courses and ad hoc training as required.

About You:

We are looking for candidates who match the following requirements:
•    Experienced Mechanical Instructors with a background specializing in mechanics, preferably on military aircraft.
•    At least 2 years of experience in RAF engineering instruction on multi-engine aircraft, with knowledge of mechanical aircraft systems and wide-bodied, multi-engine, preferably turbofan-powered aircraft.
•    Experience with aircraft Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
•    Ideally, you will have successfully completed the Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) Phase 3 course.
 

Security requirements 

  • You must be able to obtain or transfer SC clearance (likely to require 5 years of UK residency).

  • You may also be able to transfer non-UK security clearance from overseas.
