JOB DESCRIPTION

 

AAA Canada is looking for a Methods Engineer Avionics/Mechanics to bring his/her expertise to our team. The candidate must have experience in in Avionics, Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS).

 

Responsibilities

  • Write technical instructions for component repair activities and workshop and workshop support.
  • Design tools, test equipment and software to test and certify components
  • Monitor component reliability in collaboration with key customers;
  • Responsible for technical investigation of customer component problems;
  • Actively support production in resolving problems in a timely manner;
  • Review maintenance manuals and establish requirements for testing equipment test equipment, technician training and material requirements;
  • Manage individual projects throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) process Introduction") process;
  • Prepare financial justifications to support new products;
  • Assist in technician training.
  • Review and implement technical repairs to recover parts.
  • Consulting and interpreting of drawings and manuals.
  • Installation, removal and testing of avionics LRUs.
  • Wire harness installation by using prescribed procedures for crimping, soldering, wire routing, installation of sleeves / marking labels, termination of connectors etc.
  • Testing of wire harness through continuity checks and insulation resistance checks.
  • Complete checks of avionics and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting and rectification of wiring and avionics systems snags
  • Day to day management of Wire Harness Shop including production schedules, man-power allocation, spares management and ensuring availability of required tools.
  • Ensured availability of all technical documents related to wire harness manufacturing and repair.
  • Resolved problems related to technical documents faced during EWIS manufacturing, layout or testing phase.
  • • Designed wire harnesses for modifications, upgrades and re-wiring projects undertaken by the shop using the guidelines mentioned in SAE 50881.
  • • Prepared wire harness schematics, wiring diagrams, wire harness reports as well as bill of materials.
  • Prepared cases for approval of new and modified EWIS systems from relevant authorities.
  • Closely coordinated with Quality Control Department to ensure that the metrics used for quality assurance were actually helping with achieving the KPIs.
  • Carried out selection of wires, connectors and other essential components of EWIS systems through research and coordination with vendors.
  • Researched replacement part numbers to replace obsolete parts.
  • Ensured that existing test procedures fulfilled the requirements for safety and reliability. Prepared test procedures for locally developed EWIS systems.

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar environment in the aeronautics industry ideally in an MRO department;
  • Member of OIQ;
  • Very good knowledge of engineering and quality systems in an aeronautical environment;
  • In-depth experience of mechanical or avionics components;
  • Knowledge of the 5 “S” philosophy;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English able to read and understand maintenance manuals;
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented attention to detail
  • Proficient in use of ERP software, MS Office suite, Autocad and other applications
  • Successfully managed re-wiring and modifications tasks of fourteen AH-1F, two AH-1S and one MI-17 helicopter.

 

Required experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
