Requirements:
- Must live in the Lower Mainland or Greater Vancouver area and be legally allowed to work in Canada.
- This position will be based out of Vancouver Airport and will operate during regular business hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday through Friday.
- Must be willing to pass Professional Reference and Background Check as required by PASS’s onboarding process.
- Must be willing to complete Cyber-Security Awareness, Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality Agreements per PASS’s onboarding process.
What will the OHS Coordinator do?
As a vital member of the safety team, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Coordinator will work to minimize time lost due to work-related incidents while promoting a safe and healthy workplace environment. The OHS Coordinator will manage employee health and safety claims, ensuring effective coordination with regional airport representatives throughout the claims management and Recovery at Work process.
Additionally, the OHS Coordinator will assist the Health and Safety Manager by providing continuous support, training, and education to frontline managers and staff regarding OHS legislation.
Position Overview:
- Liaise with WCB board officials in the day-to-day management of claims.
- Liaise with injured workers and facilitate recovery at work and modified duties.
- Liaise with regional airports and mitigate safety concerns.
- Liaise with officials in making decisions to prevent, reduce and control workers’ compensation claims and administration costs.
- Maintain awareness provincial workers' compensation statutes, regulations or jurisprudence impacting claims management.
- Monitor, assess, and audit WCB claims for legitimacy, possible challenges, trends analysis and cost control.
- Research and draft reports concerning all aspects of workers' compensation issues.
- Maintain an up-to-date level of job competency.
- Support and monitor the return-to-work program for PASS.
- Submit required documentation to governmental authorities as required.
- Monitor claims and the status of claims.
- Monitor WCB reviews and appeals.
- Assist in designing and implementing modified work offers.
- Create and maintain confidential files of each case.
- Tracking near misses and incidents for records and statistics.
- Updating and reporting OHS statistics.
- Other OHS duties as required.
What you bring to PASS as an OHS Coordinator:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the competencies below and fit with PASS’s internal corporate culture.
- Must possess a High School Diploma. An additional diploma/degree/certificate or training in occupational health and safety would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Federal and Provincial OHS Legislation and OHS best practices.
- Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Office 365.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- An understanding of statistics, charts and analysis of data is required.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance (TSC).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of labour relations and collective agreements.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with diplomacy and professionalism.
