Operations Safety and FRM Manager 

Based in Malta

The Operations Safety and FRM Manager reports to the Safety and Security Manager.

Responsibilities:

The OPS Safety Manager is responsible for safety management activities in the field of Flight, Cabin operations and the Fatigue Risk Management program (FRM).

• Responsible to set and run the OPS SMS team, including goal setting of the team members, follow up of their performance, and supervising the daily operation;
• Maintaining and coordination of hazard identification and risk assessment;
• Support and review of mitigating actions for identified hazards and risks in the area of Flight and Cabin operations;
• Coordination of safety related activities and mitigation actions with operations departments;
• Participation in assessment of operational risks with appropriate nominated postholder/operational manager;
• Ensure reporting and coordination of MORs in the area of Flight and Cabin Safety to EASA and follow up on timely closure;
• Investigation of safety reports and proper linking to SPIs and risk register;
• Prepare material and manage Functional Safety Action Group meetings (FOSAG, CSAG and FSAG);
• Review and follow up and support of management of change and other required actions in case of identification of changes in the environment of Wizz Air operations and/or regulatory framework;
• Development, implementation and constant review of safety SPIs;
• Provision of required input into Safety Review Board, Safety Action group and other safety related meetings;
• Participation in development of safety related policies, procedures, manuals and positive corporate safety culture;
• Leading the development, maintenance and continuous improvement/review of Wizz Air’s Fatigue Risk Management Program (FRMP);
• Leading the development and continuous improvement of FRM related policies, procedures and manuals;
• Embed FRM into Wizz Air’s safety culture;
• Performing FRM training for management and crew members;
• Coordination of FRM related activities of airline operations departments;
• Managing FRM projects and risk mitigation of FRM related hazards;
• Initiate FRM investigations, surveys, studies and reviews;
• Ensuring the preparation, edition and distribution of quarterly Safety and FRM updates, FRM reports, Safety bulletins and Safety communications to employees and management;
• Managing the recording of the distributed updates on the company server as relevant;
• Actively participate in safety meetings such as SRB, SAG, FSAG, etc.;
• Participation in monthly roster review meeting;
• Monitoring of industry trends and hazards for implementation of proactive mitigating actions in the company;
• Liaison with the Competent Authority on Operational Safety and FRM related matters;
• Attending and representing Wizz Air on Safety and FRM conferences if assigned.

Skills and competencies:

• PC user skills at advanced level (MS Office);
• Experience with SMS software and tools;
• Fluent spoken & written English;
• Data analysis skills and good knowledge of statistics;
• Analytical skills, creativity and good presentation skills;
• Ability to work autonomously;
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach to safety management
• Strong time management and organizational skills.

Requirements:

• Completed college or university degree
• Basic experience in Safety Management Systems and risk management;
• Previous work experience either in Safety, FRM, Compliance, in the area of cabin, flight or ground operations;
• Basic knowledge of aviation regulations, especially flight time limitation and some experience on the area of fatigue risk management.
