As a
Process Engineer specialising in joining technologies, you will play a critical role in developing next-generation electric vehicles, batteries, and associated products. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in bonding and laser welding processes, from prototyping through to series production.
You will be part of our growing
Production Process Development team, collaborating with R&D to validate designs, optimize manufacturing processes, and enhance product quality.
Responsibilities - Lead the technical development of joining processes, focusing on bonding and laser welding.
- Develop robust process windows for series production, accounting for possible variations.
- Implement and train teams on inline quality measurement systems for process control.
- Define specifications for welding tools, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborate with R&D to design and validate battery assembly processes.
- Establish quality control systems for series production.
- Plan and execute validation testing for prototypes and production processes.
- Document processes and best practices for ongoing learning and improvement.
- Support the transition of new technologies to full-scale manufacturing.
- Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in joining technologies.
Key Duties - Develop stable, automated bonding and laser welding processes for manufacturing.
- Set process requirements for design, tools, and materials.
- Create and maintain documentation, ensuring lessons learned are captured.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by reducing waste and enhancing efficiency.
- Build automated processes that minimise organizational overhead.
- Report progress regularly to management.
Qualifications & Skills - Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in joining technologies, with a focus on bonding and laser welding.
- Hands-on expertise in programming and teaching automated welding equipment.
- Proven ability to design and specify welding tools and materials.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments (e.g., startups or high-tech industries).
- High standards for quality, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluency in English is required.
