Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the coordination of all Police Department, Maintenance, Airport Operations, and Security activities using multiple systems. This position reports to the Supervisor, Communications Center.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Performs and records Calls for Service: utilizes radio system to dispatch units for CFS; utilizes Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD) to document CFS of the police department, security, and airport operations; monitors all radio channels used for routine and emergency communications; coordinates appropriate agency/departmental response to critical incidents to include medical/fire/in-flight/any emergency requiring law enforcement/security; follows all regulated procedures for notification, response, documentation, and coordination with CCAA and other agencies.


Monitors the Airport Security Access Control System and cameras consistently monitors for security breaches and performs access control for secured areas to verified employees, vendors, and contractors; utilizes camera system in coordination with the police department to investigate active and previous calls for service.


Performs data entry into the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) system enters, removes, and modifies records for theft, wanted persons, and missing persons; utilizes NCIC to verify identity, driving privileges, and the status of outstanding warrants or disqualifications; performs person, vehicle, and property queries; provides training on NCIC policies, procedures, and functions to new Police Department employees.


Coordinates safety response with Security, Maintenance, and Airport Operations: advises Security of incidents to include improper badge use, door alarms, security system failures and issues, and updated employee status; advises Airport Operations of incidents involving contractors and vendors, maintenance needs that may result in damage to CCAA property, and violations of airport procedures; coordinates with airlines regarding their responsibilities and activities; advises Maintenance of building, airfield, property, electrical, HVAC, and supply issues.


Serves as the Public Safety Answering Point: take emergency and non-emergency calls for service and information; provides general information to the public and airport personnel regarding airlines and the operation of the airport; provides support to Airport Information by redirecting calls to appropriate CCAA departments; monitors fire alarms and coordinates response as necessary.


Informs public of recovery of lost or stolen property utilizes Returnity database to research items by date/time/description; informs owners of located items and informs as to proper retrieval procedures. 


Coordinates with Air Traffic Control, Joint Base Charleston, Consolidated Dispatch, and Mutual Aid entities during emergencies communicates with the Air Traffic Control tower and Joint Base Charleston to manage incoming flight or airside emergencies; relays information to Consolidated Dispatch for EMS/Fire response; provides pertinent information to all responding personnel from various agencies as needed.


Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures receives and reviews various documentation, and reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.


Operates or uses various equipment and supplies to complete work assignments operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.


Performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree with major coursework in criminology, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in emergency communications, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.


Specific License or Certification Required:

  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
  • Must maintain NCIC Certification every two (2) years.
  • Must pass and maintain CJIS Security Awareness Training.
Salary Description
$20.83 per hour
