The Quality Assurance Technician inspects machines and other products to ensure compliance with customer/sales order specifications and conformance to established standards. The hours for this position are 7:00am – 3:30 pm

What You'll Do:
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematic drawings, procedure changes and work orders to determine compliance of product to customer requirements
  • Employ calculator and basic math systems including decimals, square root operations and others
  • Make use of references as necessary
  • Set up equipment to test and evaluate products
  • Perform process audits to insure conformity of parts to specifications
  • Measure parts for conformity to specifications using tape measure and other measuring devices
  • Examine welds for compliance with drawings and other specifications 
  • Perform calibrations of measuring devices
  • Troubleshoot defective parts and assemblies as required
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality standards to achieve optimum quality
  • Communicate with supervisor, co-workers, Parts Department, Engineering Department and others concerning errors, defects and/or changes to specifications
  • Record test data and write report of examinations and items that require correction when necessary
  • Document assigned tasks as required
  • Communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Perform work according to supervisor's directives
  • Maintain positive, cooperative working relationships by working, interacting, and communicating with various personalities getting along with customers, vendors, co-workers and management working both individually and as part of a team
  • Follow and actively support all company policies and procedures, to include a primary emphasis on safe operations

  • Wear personal protective equipment as required by company, customers and/or state DOTs
  • Clean work area daily

What We Need from You:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Accurate engineering drawing reading and interpretation skills
  • Working knowledge of welding and understanding of welding symbols
  • Calibration program experience to include the ability to read precise measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Ability to work satisfactorily as a team member
  • Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and learn beyond the basics, specifically with regard to Microsoft Office Suite software applications
  • Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion
  • Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Adept at problem solving
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and devices
  • Completion and maintenance of forklift operation certification and ability to safely operate a forklift if required
  • Ability to operate or be trained to operate heavy roadbuilding equipment 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure
  • Knowledge and understanding of US standard measurements 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimals in US standard systems and apply to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
