Description

Projects Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team. We are a manufacturer of complex small, machined components for the Aerospace and Power Systems industries and has been in business for over fifty years. 


The qualified candidate will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for various aspects of the Quality Management System including Document control. This position requires a dynamic, proactive, and results-oriented individual to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive program Quality strategy to support key suppliers. Superior communication, remote collaboration, creative thinking, and time management skills are essential. 

  

Responsibilities include:

  • Strong First Article Inspection Report (AS9102 FAIR) documentation knowledge, as well as inspection plan creation to meet customer requirements.
  • Applies quality principles in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and/or buy products.
  • Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings, and procedures.
  • Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action.
  • Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements.
  • Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity.
  • Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Engages in supplier selection process.
  • Provide documentation to customers regarding UPPAP, Root Cause Analysis, Process Qualifications, etc.
  • Administer company Metrology program.
  • Provide assistance to Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Subcontractors to ensure organizational compliance to customer contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and visits including internal, vendor, customer, and 3rd parties. 
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Engineering discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years working in Quality or Engineering.
  • Experience working in Aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Intimate knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must have a high sense of urgency and the ability to meet schedule requirements in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong ability to review and understand customer specifications as they pertain to product processing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • DPRV (DQR) certification is preferred. Preferred certification with Pratt and Whitney.
  • Technical Degree at the Bachelor level or higher.
  • Ability to interpret Drawings, Specifications, Contracts and other engineering requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical / process issues varying from basic to very complex.
  • An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Experience with P&W CLCSR a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Suppliers, Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Sub-contracts (Buyers) and Government Representatives.

Desired Skills:

  • Development Program/product experience.
  • Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality experience.
  • Experience with use of inspection gages and measuring equipment.
  • AS9100 Interpretation and application experience.
  • Experience working with Government customers.
  • Effective Communication Skills: written, oral, listening and technical writing.
  • Knowledge of Industry recognized Quality systems such as International (ISO), aerospace (AS).
  • Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements.
  • Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and to support all supplier quality field engineering activities.
