Quality Inspector I

Position Overview:

The Quality Inspector I is responsible for testing and inspecting products at various stages of the inspection process. This includes compiling and evaluating inspection data to ensure and maintain product quality and reliability. The role involves working closely with other departments to verify documentation, resolve issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the inspection process. This is an entry-level quality control inspector position requiring one year of related experience and/or training or a combination of both.

Essential Functions:

Product Inspection & Testing:

• Interpret engineering blueprints, source control drawings, and verify Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts.
• Select articles for inspection at specified stages in the production process and test products for various qualities, such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
• Use precision inspection tools to inspect part features, evaluate data, and record results to validate or indicate deviations from standards.
• Verify assemblies and materials

Receiving & Documentation:

• Process incoming shipments into the ERP system, sort and inspect articles based on inspection and quality control requirements.
• Verify that shipments are complete with required paperwork and documentation. Attach identification data to products and used in production per engineering and certification requirements.
• materials after receipt.
• Examine deliveries for damages, notify Quality Control and Purchasing when discrepancies are found, and record issues that may block receipt of deliveries.
• Assist Customer Service in processing customer returns and handle returns to suppliers as necessary.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

• Work with other departments to solve issues that arise during the receiving or inspection process.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, suggesting process enhancements, and helping maintain a smooth flow of quality operations.

• Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
• Excellent communication both written and verbal
• Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
• Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proficient with ERP/MRP systems
• Knowledge of alloys and material certifications for product acceptance
• Must be proficient using most precision inspection tools to obtain measurements

Education, Certifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
