We are seeking dedicated and highly skilled Level 2 Mechanical Inspectors to join our team and support inspection activities for one of our leading aerospace clients at their supplier in Berea, OH. This critical role requires an experienced professional with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of quality assurance practices. If you have a background in the inspection of machined parts, are proficient with all precision hand tools, and can interpret complex GD&T requirements, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity. This is a 2-3 Month contract position in which you will be supporting our client on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform 100% inspection of mechanical components using hand tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ensure products meet specified tolerances, verifying there are no gaps, mismatches, or deviations from acceptable contour and waviness standards.
- Evaluate workmanship to confirm compliance with defined standards, checking for defects such as scratches, burrs, loose fasteners, drill starts, and other surface imperfections.
- Inspect part finishes, paint, and skin quality to ensure they meet required visual standards.
- Verify fasteners are properly installed and confirm torque stripes are continuous from head to surface, with the correct color applied.
- Ensure adequate provisions are in place to protect and preserve inspected products through subsequent processing, completion, and shipment.
- Review and validate shipping documentation to confirm legibility, accuracy, and compliance with required identification standards, including part numbers, serial numbers, and shipping destination details.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical inspection processes and workmanship standards for metal fabrications and mechanical components.
- Experience performing 100% inspections to identify out-of-tolerance issues and ensure product conformity.
- US Citizenship required.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience inspecting clamps, fasteners, or similar mechanical components used in aerospace structures.
- Familiarity with source inspection processes and documentation verification.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently to meet project deadlines.
$25 - $32 an hour
Mileage Compensation ($70 per mile driven)
Note: This position requires access to ITAR-controlled technical data and/or defense articles. As such, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder) to comply with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Applicants who do not meet these criteria will not be considered for this role.
