We are looking for a Level 2 inspector to perform source inspection at various suppliers in Kansas. You must be a US citizen, have a personal vehicle, and pass a background check.



Key Responsibilities

    •      Incoming inspection from external providers of products or services/processing (e.g ., nickel plating)
    •      In-process and/or final inspection of critical features, including witness inspection (e.g., CMM program run)
    •      Compilation of final inspection sign-off sheet or inspection package
    •      Verification that inspection equipment used to take measurements is capable of detecting defects.
    •      Verification that inspection methodology is adequate per drawing intent.
    •   Review and validation of justification for any part not inspected at final inspection.
    •       Audit and validation of execution to the inspection plan, if applicable
    • Assure products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing, and of acceptable contour and waviness.
    •       Assure products are of good workmanship and within specified workmanship standards (e.g., oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, drill starts, scratches, dings, burrs, fastener edge distance, etc.)
    • Verify all visible part finishes, paint, and skin quality are acceptable to required visual standards.
    •       Verify hardware cleanliness and absence of internal or external foreign object debris.
    •       Verify safety wire has been applied in a negative pull orientation, correct number of turns, and pigtails are tucked in according to specification requirements.
    •      Verify fasteners are properly installed; assure torque stripe is continuous from head to the surface and of correct color
    • Verify the supplier has provisions to assure protection and preservation of inspected product for subsequent processing through completion/future operations, including shipment of product.
    • Verify applicable First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements have been completed for the engineering configuration as flowed on the PD. Review FAI Report (FAIR) for general completeness, traceability of supporting records, documentation of results, and overall compliance. Evaluate impact of any open issues from FAIR (i.e., noncompliant characteristics) relative to product being inspected.
    •      Verify shipping documentation is legible and includes correct identification (part number, serial number), configuration change letter, PD line item/quantity/change letter, shipping destination, etc.

Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection.
    • Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards.
    • Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., indicators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
    • Experience with certificates of conformance and inspection documentation.
    • Ability to adapt to new technology and software.
    • Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products.
$29 - $31 an hour
50% hourly rate for any travel time ("p2p")
Mileage reimbursement at the US gov't rate ($ per mile driven). Untaxed.
