Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety, Flight Test, Certification, and Aircraft Maintenance Specialist to join our team. This role is critical for maintaining our test plane, conducting safe testing, ensuring system functionality, and meeting all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aircraft maintenance, flight testing, and aviation safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Aircraft Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on our test aircraft, ensuring it is in top operational condition.

• Flight Test Planning and Execution: Plan, conduct, and oversee flight tests to validate and verify the performance and safety of our AI-based aviation solutions.

• Safety Assurance: Implement and manage safety protocols and procedures to ensure all flight tests and operations are conducted safely.

• System Testing: Collaborate with engineering teams to test and evaluate new systems and technologies in real flight conditions.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all testing and maintenance activities comply with relevant aviation regulations and standards.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance, tests, and certifications to ensure transparency and regulatory compliance.

• Certification Processes: Guide the certification process for new systems and technologies, working with regulatory bodies to achieve necessary approvals.

• Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to aircraft systems, testing procedures, and regulatory compliance.

• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, safety officers, and regulatory experts, to align on project goals and requirements.

Bonus Points

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance, flight testing, and certification.

• Certification: Relevant certifications in aircraft maintenance, such as FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.

• Aviation Safety: Experience with aviation safety management systems (SMS) and protocols.

• Advanced Degree: Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field.

• Project Management: Experience in project management within the aviation industry.

This is a hybrid role and requires working from our San Carlos, CA office at least three days a week, with the option to work remotely the remaining days.
