Senior EHP Safety Review Representative

We are looking for a Senior EHP Safety Review Representative (Senior Project Engineer- Systems Engineering) to fill the role of Extravehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) Representative to the Human Landing System (HLS) Program Safety Review Panel.  This role will be responsible for providing cross program representation between EHP and other Moon2Mars programs such as Human Landing Systems (HLS), Gateway and Orion.  

• The primary customer is the Safety and Mission Assurance office within EHP 
• The position is in a team that primarily provides cross program representation between EHP and other Moon2Mars programs such as Human Landing Systems (HLS), Gateway and Orion. 

Work Model  

This is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center, Houston TX, offering a 100% onsite work model that combines 5 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and implement safety policy and requirements for element hardware, payloads and operations, integration of hardware/software, and assure compliance with International Space Station (ISS), EHP and HLS safety requirements.  
• Provide recommendations to senior-level EHP Program management on hazard and safety analyses, risk assessments, and evaluate operations to ensure compliance with approved S&MA requirements to minimize operational risk.  
• Continuously monitor open work related to flight readiness. 
• Serve as a representative of the EHP Safety and Mission Assurance/Program Risk office in other EHP boards, panels, working groups and forums. 
• Participate in NASA, Artemis Campaign Development (ACD), and EHP Program Office forums. 
• Develop periodic status reports and presentations. 
• Develop special reports/discussions of findings, issues, conclusions, recommendations, and risk assessments. 
• Formulate recommendations to senior-level program management. 
• Continuously monitor, capture, and integrate S&MA/Risk information across multiple programs, NASA centers, industry, and international partners. 
• Serve as a highly proactive technical specialist, understanding issues and formulating. options/recommendations, while working closely with the program S&MA team and across other offices, teams, working groups, and panels. 
• Lead forums and venues to drive outcomes. 
• Identify and initiate next level analysis as needed supporting hazard abatement process for hardware and software. 
• Coordinate requirements, technical objectives, interfaces, standards, issues and findings with subject matter experts and stakeholders. 

What You Need to be Successful – Senior Project Engineer- Systems Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science, or another applicable STEM degree
• 10 or more years of experience working in technical mission management and operations type roles 
• Knowledge of the NASA program life cycle   
• Experience working in in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large EVA community and influences teams across the M2M enterprise 
• Initiative and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers 
• Knowledge of EVA systems and current technology 
• Excellent presentation and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner 
• Experience working across diverse teams and many different engineering disciplines 
• Knowledge of space flight certification processes to ensure performance and safety requirements are met 
• Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically approx. 10%
• This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
