As modern aircraft produce increasing amounts of data in operations and maintenance, robust data systems enabling analytics are required to transform that data into actionable insight for Boeing’s engineering teams.

 

The Enterprise Safety Data Analytics team is looking to hire a highly skilled lead data engineer with knowledge in fields such as advanced statistics, data engineering, and experience with developing customer-oriented reports and visualizations.

 

These skills will be primarily leveraged to support the team’s role in developing out SMS analytics specifically focused on Speak Up reporting systems. This portfolio of work will have a significant impact on Boeing’s ability to reliably and efficiently operate Speak Up and have the ability to influence the operations and analytics of a critical component of employee empowerment at Boeing.

 

As a member of the Enterprise Safety Data Analytics team, the candidate will collaborate with data science technical leads, SMS business leaders, and subject matter experts to analyze data, perform data/feature engineering work, engage with customers, and assist in the maturing of a critical area for Boeing’s safety culture.

Position responsibilities

• Work with big data applications to develop data pipelines in support of organizational analytics objectives. Pipelines will be used as the basis for productionizing and deploying solutions to end-users.
• Develop data for analysis, e.g. cleansing, conditioning, transforming, handling missing fields, identifying new feature variables and handling multi-variate data.
• Develop within a variety of data frameworks (angular, react, etc.).
• Identify areas for and develop pipeline health monitoring capabilities to ensure data stability and quality.
• Performs procedures in evaluation and validation of correctness of models and analysis.
• Supports identifying best-fit analytics methodology (statistics, machine learning, optimization, simulation) given the data, business requirements, and fit-for-purpose constraints. Develop and deploy data engineering plan to build into production pipeline.
• Supports evaluation and validation of performance of models and analysis
• Support integration of analytic models and data pipelines into production software or environments.

 

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in data science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, computer science or engineering
• 5+ years of experience in SQL
• 5+ years of experience in Python
• 3+ years of experience deploying visualizations in Tableau
• 2+ years of experience working in digital frameworks (angular, react, etc.)
• 2+ years of experience building data pipelines
• 1+ years of experience in cloud technology (preferably Azure or GCP)
• 1+ years of experience in deploying analytics into production environments (CI/CD, software engineering, GitHub collaborative environments)

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Experience working with data scientists and engineering teams.
• Familiarity with the safety data ecosystem related to product safety
• Experience participating on or leading Agile/Scrum teams
• Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events
• Highly motivated and work well in a team environment
• The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work effectively with diverse technical teams across the enterprise
• Ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities to ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

• Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $142,800 - $193,200
