Vast is looking for a Senior Manager, Avionics Mechanical and Harnessing reporting to the Senior Vice President of Avionics, you will oversee the mechanical design and installation of electronic enclosures, assemblies, and cable harnesses for our space vehicle and support systems.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Will lead a team responsible for on-vehicle components and sub-system, from initial requirements to vehicle installation.You will assign projects to team leads and project managers, balancing project needs with staff skills.
- Ensure the team follows the standards, processes, and tools for complex avionics enclosure design, analysis, and harnessing.
- Help grow and develop the team, including managing performance, training, career development, hiring, and mentoring.
- This role is both managerial and technical, and you will have significant input, guidance, review, and oversight on your team’s work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical engineering, or equivalent STEM degree.
- Proven ability to manage technical teams and/or lead functional groups, with accountability for technical excellence of work outcomes, and employee career development.
- 5+ years of mechanical design; electronic hardware packaging; analysis or testing for static structural, modal, random vibration, shock, and/or fatigue; thermal evaluation and analysis; cable harness design and routing
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience designing tough electronic enclosures and/or cable harnesses for space, commercial aviation, or similar high-performance applications in regulated sectors.
- Experience in creating uniform procedures and techniques
- Ability to lead a dynamic flexible environment, be self-directed, and balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to communicate highly technical topics to a variety of audiences.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Partners within the organization, including Executive Management, Procurement, Production, Quality, and Materials & Processes, and communicate effectively.
- Guide, teach, and hire engineers and technicians
