The Sheetmetal/Structures (Depot) Aircraft Mechanic AM-3 (AH-64, UH-60, and CH-47) possesses expertise in depot-level maintenance and repairs on AH-64, UH-60, and CH-47 aircraft.
This Mechanic will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in advanced structural repairs, overseeing a team of Sheetmetal technicians to complete complex repairs.
The position requires a thorough understanding of AVIM (Aviation Intermediate Maintenance), AVUM (Aviation Unit Maintenance), and Depot maintenance standards, along with the ability to lead and participate in the Maintenance Engineering Call (MEC) process for the assigned aircraft.
Will act as the subject matter expert (SME) for depot-level structural repairs on AH-64, UH-60, and CH-47 aircraft.
A valid FAA A&P Certificate or FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3) is Required.
US Citizenship and a Valid US Passport are required.
Provide technical guidance on complex structural and Sheetmetal repairs, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications, maintenance manuals, and industry standards.
Maintain a deep understanding of aircraft structural repair requirements and best practices for each assigned aircraft type.
Lead and perform depot-level structural repairs and modifications on AH-64, UH-60, and CH-47 aircraft in compliance with military and manufacturer standards.
Inspect, evaluate, and repair aircraft structures including airframe components, sheet metal parts, and structural assemblies.
Perform and oversee repairs on damaged, cracked, or corroded airframes, ensuring proper use of tools, jigs, fixtures, and materials.
Conduct inspections at various stages of repair to verify quality, ensure compliance, and maintain airworthiness.
Actively participate in the MEC process, providing technical input, recommendations, and solutions for structural issues identified during maintenance.
Collaborate with engineering, quality control, and other maintenance teams to address complex repair challenges, integrating MEC findings into repair procedures.
Document and report findings, repairs, and MEC outcomes to leadership and ensure continuous improvement in the maintenance process.
Lead and mentor a team of Sheetmetal technicians, providing direction on repair methods, tooling, and techniques.
Coordinate and manage workloads, ensuring team members adhere to safety, quality, and efficiency standards in all maintenance tasks.
Train and develop team members in depot-level structural repairs, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Ensure proper documentation of all repairs, inspections, and modifications performed by the team, maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual standards.
Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
Post entries and maintain maintenance and inspection records.
Input, validate, and analyze data processed to automated systems. Clears and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is Required.
Proven experience in Depot-level maintenance and repair of US Army military rotary-wing aircraft (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47).
A valid FAA A&P certificate OR FCC license with (Elements 1 and 3) is Required.
With FAA A&P certificate- A Valid A&P with Two (2) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned aircraft (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) MDS Mission design series is Required.
All relevant aircraft (MDS) experience must be within the most recent past Five (5) years.
Without an A&P, must have or obtain a valid FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3), AND possess Seven (7) years Aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned aircraft (AH-64, UH-60, CH-47) Mission Design Series (MDS).
All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.

Valid US Passport Required for deployment to Germany.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt Security Clearance, (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Govt Clearance and/or the NAC-I T1 Public Trust. (Interim NAC-I approval is required prior to deployment).
Germany Specific:
TESA Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.
Travel: As required in support of task order.
Knowledge & Skills
Perform structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatment with respect to original strength, weight, and contour to maintain structural integrity.
Assemble repairs using special fasteners and adhesives.
Ability to use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.
Use metalworking equipment and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
Inspect and troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjust, repair, realign, fabricate, or replace defective components or assemblies.
Maintain and inspect tools and equipment.
Assess damage to aircraft structural components.
Check repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
Treat corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft Sheetmetal/structural modifications and repair.
Shall have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, utilizing the Army's Logistics Information System (e.g., ACN, ULLS-A).
Shall have a extensive knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.
Additional and Physical Requirements
Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.
Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work task.
Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.
Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
