Reports to: Head of Production (H1)

Location: Atlantic Aviation Group, Shannon Airport, Shannon, Co Clare

Duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

Essential Job Function

  • Using the AAG Project & Performance Management System, manage your assigned team on a day-to-day basis to meet and exceed all KPI’s set for each aircraft.
  • Prioritise health & safety compliance
  • Maintain adherence to AAG Quality & Airworthiness procedures at all times
  • Manage the commercial efficiency of shops and develop commercial awareness of shops personnel. Control man-hours clocked; materials ordered & returned to enable the team to deliver an efficient commercial result. 
  • Manage capacity to ensure the shops stay aligned to planned loads plus sign off hours.
  • Adhere to milestone & job card targets to facilitate an on-time redelivery
  • Lead the performance and development of the Shops leadership team and support lead engineers to lead the performance and development of their teams. 
  • Ensure regular effective communication takes place with the shops team, project teams and with customers.
  • Ensure a high level of team morale is maintained.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, tool control & workplace organisation.
  • Manage team’s performance through continuous appraisal and review. Ensure regular effective communication takes place with employees.
  • Develop personnel to maximise skill levels, flexibility, and certification levels of the team, ensuring the team has the right people with the right skills to meet the business requirement.
  • Lead and support the Employee Oriented Culture from a recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement perspective.
  • Ensure rosters are being produced by the Lead Engineers & adhered to by employees in order to achieve productivity & utilisation targets, while also ensuring compliance with the Organisation of Working Time Act.
  • Communicate to the Aircraft Business Manager and Head of Production the shops status, any blocks affecting progress and planned actions to resolve issues. Escalate by exception only.
  • Work as a Team with other Managers to mutually support each other, sharing loads/resources as appropriate to maximise agility, flexibility, and throughput.
  • Lead Continuous improvement in your area.
  • Support development of additional revenue streams for the shops organisation.
  • Deputise for the Head of Production and other Production Managers as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Production.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or recognised management qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • Have at least 5 years related experience in Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Have previous experience in the Management or Supervision of personnel.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Be a good team worker, able to identify and develop individual and team ability.
  • Self-motivated, confident and methodical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work directly with cross-functional leaders and partners.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation, and the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • An energetic, dedicated approach combined with excellent planning and organisation skills and a commitment to deadlines, targets, and high work standards.
  • Embody a positive can-do attitude.

Typical Working Conditions 

  • As a member of the Production Management Team, the Shops Manager will be required to work as per the Production Manager weekend schedule.  
  • Must satisfy and maintain the required medical standard. 
  • Work is performed at the AAG Hangar in Shannon. 
  • PPE is provided by AAG, and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work. 
  • Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
