Sr Engineer - Project Engineer- Propulsion Systems - CANADA

Note: This position opening is in Canada and will initially be fully remote.

Job Summary (Paragraph) 

The Project Engineer reports to the Head of Aircraft Development, that manages the engineering activity occurring within product developmentThis position's core focus is to support the management of engineering activity with the perimeter of Integrated Propulsion Systems (IPS) that includes design and analysis, testing, supplier collaboration, and certification.  The Project Engineer will collaborate directly with the engineering leadership and development team to mature the IPS configuration, engage critical suppliers, and manage the engineering schedule and budget The candidate shall have significant experience in relationships with aerospace suppliers during the early phase of aircraft development through certification and a deep understanding of the system maturity needs as it transitions through the various program development gates. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teaming: Collaborate with the engineering team to define work scope, schedules, budgets, and task descriptions to support development of the integrated propulsion systems while recognizing limitations in schedule, and resources. 
  • Supplier Management: Develop plans with the suppliers to ensure the right level of engagements in support of the aircraft development.  
  • Communicating: Establish dashboards to monitor various technical and programmatic information for leadership, the engineering team and engaged suppliers. 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams across structures, avionics, propulsion, mechanical systems, flight sciences and cabin systems to ensure cohesive system integration to meet aircraft requirements.  
  • Coaching: Preparing the engineering team for successful execution of program maturity gates. 
  • Risk Management: Anticipate, collect, and mitigate both programmatic and technical risks 
  • Collaborate, and coordinate IPS trade studies among the engineering team and suppliers. 
  • Supplier Management: Execute engineering supplier activity. 

Qualifications:  

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in aerospace engineering, with at least 5 years in a project engineering role focused on managing project deliverables, schedule and suppliers. 
  • Expertise: Good knowledge in system development and engineering processes.  
  • Leadership: Exceptional team leadership and project management skills, with a history of managing multiple projects at the same time. 
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address technical challenges.  
  • Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively presenting technical and programmatic data to leadership, internal engineering, consultants, partners, and suppliers. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related field

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to work successfully in a cross-functional environment that prioritizes the success of the overall program and company goals.  
  • Strong knowledge in aircraft certification process and documentation. 
  • Understanding of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and associated markings
