We are seeking a Structures Supervisor to join our teams. The Structures Supervisor will supervise functions assigned in the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft components, parts, and accessories. Must be able to travel & have a valid U.S. Passport.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Supervises the modification and repair and aircraft structures ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and Marana Aerospace policies and procedures and that the technical data and procedure manuals are reviewed, kept current and available. Ensures that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation Services policies and procedures and that the technical data and procedure manuals are reviewed, kept current and available.
  • Studies and reviews production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures as needed and recommends measures for improved efficiency.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments.  Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Supervises the review of non preplanned documents to identify methods of repair and/or replacement identifying necessary parts, materials and tooling requirements.  Provides timely estimate for all maintenance on non preplanned documents within scope of responsibility.
  • Ensures that qualified personnel are selected and that the orientation and on-the-job training programs are conducted and effective
  • Monitors performance of subordinates. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Conducts performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates responsibilities within work areas. Analyzes and resolves work problems and remains available for consultation of matters relating to work being performed.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Ensures that customer approval is obtained on original and revised estimates to accomplish maintenance on aircraft and components.
  • Ensures that all required paperwork is satisfactorily completed, signed and in compliance with existing regulations and procedures.
  • Coordinates with other departments/managers/superviors as necessary.
  • Ensures that employees receive proper orientation and training and performs on-the-job training as necessary.  Ensures that training is documented in employee training records.
  • Interprets company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations and the proper use of equipment and ensures that quality standards are met.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers including assigning work duties for maximum utilization of manpower and analyzing and resolving work problems.
  • Maintains communications within area of responsibility, informing employees as to plans and progress and promoting teamwork and cooperation.
  • Conducts performance evaluations on employees and makes recommendations to management regarding personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

 

Marginal Job Functions: 

  • Ensure all work performed is done in a safe manger
  • Direct activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions
  • Makes recommendations to management to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, or cut costs.
  • Communicates effectively with other department heads/ clients on progress & status updates

 

Qualifications:  

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required. 
  • Capable of working independently or under supervision.  
  • Flexibility to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • A License or Repairman’s certificate is required
  • 5+ years in aircraft structural repair, with supervisory experience is required

 

Preferred

  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines.   
  • Excellent attention to detail and mathematical proficiency.   
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English with the capability to follow verbal and written instructions.   

 

 

 

Work Location: Aircraft maintenance hangar, flightline, and Avionics Shop. 

Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, electrical charges and radar waves, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, working around moving machinery. 

Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, breathing equipment.

Equipment Operated: Hydraulic press brake, power shear, forming equipment, hand tools, lift equipment, stands, ladders, glass beading equipment, rivet guns, drills.

§ Any employee who observes an unsafe action or condition should bring it to the attention of supervisors and managers. Certain conditions may allow the employee to easily correct a condition or situation. 

§ In all cases, the employee must notify his/her supervisor of any actions taken by the employee. The first employee to observe an accident or incident should take immediate action to alert appropriate responders/supervision and to take reasonable steps to prevent further injury, or damage.

Qualifications

IV. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize and plan work adhering to deadlines; attention to detail and mathematical skills; excellent communication skills including ability to read, write, and understand the English language and to follow and administer verbal and written instruction; ability to prioritize and supervise multiple work projects; ability to interpret and apply technical data; ability to safely drive and operate a standard shift automotive vehicle and other applicable equipment; ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances and priorities; ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; basic knowledge of human behavior and supervisory techniques.

 

Education/Training: High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years in Aviation Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required.

 

Experience: Five years experience in aircraft maintenance preferred, with prior supervisory experience.

 

Certificates/Licenses: Airframe License or ability to qualify for a Repairman’s Certificate required. Valid drivers license required.
