What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering Data, this role oversees the Engineering Data team's mandate to maintain accurate airport building records by implementing plans, delegating tasks, and optimizing workflows to support data maintenance, document management, and mapping/publishing. The position ensures data accuracy and currency through reviews, integrations, and CADD standards maintenance, while also developing and implementing data maintenance and map production workflows, collaborating on strategic goals, and managing contractor support.

As a Supervisor, Facilities Engineering Data, you will:

  • Support and oversee the Engineering Data team’s mandate to maintain complete and accurate records of all airport building related technical data and drawings, by implementing plans, scheduling tasks, assigning and tracking work assignments, improving work processes and providing feedback.
  • Delegate tasks, direct teams, prioritize work objectives, develop schedules, and monitor performance to support core services including data maintenance, document management, and mapping/publishing.
  • Develop improved workflows, identify training needs, collaborate on strategic goals, review technical outputs, facilitate meetings, and manage contractor support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Engineering Data’s services.
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of airport facility data sets through regular reviews, timely integration of project records, and maintenance of CADD standards, while identifying and addressing information gaps and supporting the Space and Door database.
  • Systematically review and report on data set compliance, develop and implement data maintenance workflows, identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, and maintain expertise in GTAA CADD, GIS, and BIM software to support airport facility data updates.
  • Coordinate reviews of building related project design, construction and record drawings submissions for compliance with GTAA drawing and data standards and provide acceptance or return to project managers for correction.
  • Ensure comprehensive capture and retention of project records, including all technical records related to building assets and systems.
  • Use Project records, field validation, scan data (Lidar), and other sources and update GTAA building data records to reflect current condition.
  • Develop efficient workflows and classification systems, monitor project record submissions, prepare annual reports, and support data provision requests, while collaborating with the Supervisor Site Engineering Data to improve management practices.
  • Support GTAA business units by delivering tailored building and building systems map products, maintaining an inventory of production maps, and ensuring the web mapping platform reflects current building data.
  • Develop and implement map production workflows, maintain plotting standards, liaise with clients to determine mapping requirements, and monitor service level agreements to improve mapping and data publishing efficiencies for building-related information.
  • Work closely with the Senior Engineering Data GIS Technologist to maintain, update, test, and implement building data management tools in CADD, GIS, and BIM, collaborate on workflows leveraging new data formats, maintain GIS configurations and database structures, develop data extraction workflows, and automate complex workflows to improve efficiencies.
  • Coordinate the development, documentation and delivery of Engineering Data training content for building data maintenance procedures, document management guidelines and procedures and data standards

This unionized position has an hourly wage rate of $50.01, based on a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the positions once a selection decision has been made. A practical and written test may be administered as part of the competitive process. 

Candidates with relevant external experience must provide references with their applications in order to confirm this experience.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • University or College degree in one of the following fields: engineering, architecture, cartography, geographic information systems or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience using CADD, GIS and BIM technologies, in an engineering or architectural technician/technologist role
  • 5 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role
  • 3 years’ experience in System Administration in a CADD, BIM and/or GIS environment.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance

 Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success:

  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and tasks at the same time as part of a team or independently
  • Knowledge of record, document and data management techniques and systems
  • Expertise in formulating and applying CADD and data standards specific to buildings / facilities, utility, civil and property data
  • Expertise in the principles of building/facility, utility, civil and property data maintenance
  • Expertise in the use of current CADD, GIS, plotting, document management civil and utility asset management software applications
  • Familiarity with BIM software and data formats
  • Fluency in current Survey technologies and terminology in order to effectively interpret and utilize survey data for plan updates
  • Expertise knowledge of cartographic principles of map design, standards and practices, including the employment of graphic arts methodologies
  • Ability to conceptualize and plan data structures to facilitate effective location and retrieval of documents
  • Knowledge of GTAA Identification & Labelling Standards
  • Familiarity with data conversion, raster editing and graphic arts software
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing software, technologies and data formats associated with CADD and GIS
  • Strong familiarity with computer equipment, and standard, office software applications, (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Good aptitude for mathematics as this position frequently deals with geometry in different co-ordinate systems, must design scaled plans for all production maps and convert scaled drawings for data updates
  • Knowledge of planning and development processes and stages of construction projects is required to ensure data provisions and submissions are utilized in their proper context
  • Knowledge of contract management
