ASCO Aerospace Canada is a division of Montana Aerospace, with our facility located in Delta, BC. We are looking for a Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) to join our Quality team at the Canadian operations.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for controlling and managing product quality and the processes of suppliers. This position must ensure conformity of products in accordance with customer specifications and serve as an interface between the customer, the supplier, and Asco. This position will require frequent travel to domestic and international locations, primarily to the USA (at least 25%).

Job Duties

Supplier Support and Development

  • Manage supplier quality during the production phase, including analysis of reported Quality problems with supplier parts
  • Compile corrective action reports for non-conformities, and follow-up on the implementation of corrective actions
  • Provide and report the quality metrics for supplier follow-up
  • Identify improvement potential within a supplier’s quality processes, and develop continuous improvement plans for the supplier’s manufacturing processes
  • Implement and follow-up on the continuous improvement program (QIP Program)
  • Perform system, process, and product quality audits, including compiling reports, establishing corrective actions, and following up on those actions
  • Support and manage the launch of new parts, projects, and new suppliers by establishing the process to start-up the manufacturing of new parts with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Perform FAIs (First Article Inspections)
  • Monitor and manage quality performance during the start-up phases
  • Follow the industrialization plan of the Supplier for critical and major parts

Supplier Selection

  • Assess and evaluate system and process quality of new potential suppliers
  • Perform system and process quality audits at potential suppliers
  • Support Procurement during the RFQ phase
  • Compile audit reports, subsequent evaluation reports, and conduct follow-up on any required actions

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, or related equivalent
  • ASQ, CQE, CQA, or other similar designation
  • At least 2 years of previous, related work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO9001 regulations
  • Thorough technical knowledge in both products and processes
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and other customer specification documentation
  • Knowledge of quality and business systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with senior management at suppliers
  • Sensitive to commercial and financial aspects
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple issues at one time
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions using sound judgement
  • Ability to work well across all business functions
  • Must have valid Canadian work status and the ability to travel internationally on short notice
